Why ?

If you are trying to communicate with the public, be it as part of a any campaign, advertising - anything at all - you have to be crystal clear about what point it is you are trying to get across, and what kind of response you are trying to elicit.

Putting out two very different pictures of the same man - presumably made up several years ago - is confusing to people, especially people who don't know the case well. It is possible that it will not be clear to many people who the pictures are supposed to represent, and what it is that they are supposed to be considering when looking at them.

Have I seen this man? These men? Are they the same person? Is this how he /they look now, or in the past?

Added to that, there are mugshots of various of the POI's associated with the case on the Madeleine website. Are these out of date or not?

All very confusing.

This is precisely why I was asking "why ?" Why does SY exhibit a lot of e-fits creating confusion even in those who have a reasonable knowledge of the case ? Why ? Should we like the journalist on another thread think that SY tries to justify the millions of pounds spent ?
