Mother who killed three-year-old son jailed for 11 yearsA MOTHER who admitted killing her three-year-old son has been jailed for 11 years.
Rosdeep Adekoya, 34, killed Mikaeel Kular and told the High Court in Edinburgh she "lost her temper" with the toddler after he was repeatedly sick on a family day out at Nando's.
Days later, the combination of Mikaeel's illness and the beatings from his mother proved too much, and he died at his family's flat in Ferry Gait Crescent, Edinburgh.
When the single mother-of-five discovered his body, she wrapped him in a duvet cover, stuffed him into a suitcase and drove 25 miles to Kirkaldy, Fife, to hide him in the woods.
However, she failed to fully cover her tracks — mobile telephone masts recorded Adekoya's journey across the Forth Road Bridge, revealing the lies in police statements on her whereabouts.
Mikaeel's disappearance sparked a major police manhunt with as many as 300 officers involved in the search.
Defence QC Brian McConnachie said the case was "truly tragic" for all the family.
Adekoya, a prisoner at Cornton Vale jail near Stirling, was initially charged with murder but last month pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of culpable homicide.
She also admitted a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by pretending to police her son had gone missing.
