None of us have any understanding of jurors deliberations to know how they arrived at the verdict.  New forensic evidence will need to persuade 3 CoA judges that if jurors had heard the new evidence at trial then they may have returned a different verdict.

AT 10:2 majority it was finely balanced.  It could have easily swung the other way and with the passage of time the whole tragedy would have faded.

That's not nearly the same as proving innocence though. A jury is under instructions to let the guilty walk free if the case is not quite proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Clearly 2 jurors did have some doubt but that doesn't mean they thought he was innocent.

There was a dissenting juror in Ian Huntley's conviction. That's why there are 12 members of a jury and majority verdicts.

If his conviction is quashed it will be on new forensic tests. In the eyes of the law he will be considered innocent.  Many will be falling over him eg journalists, authors, film/docum makers.  He might even be offered sponsorships.  Lawyers will offer their services foc to claim back his inheritance.

Oh, you’re hilarious!😂

That’s the most deluded, ridiculous thing I’ve read on here. (&^&

Wendell Baker case here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23101232

Thanks.  It seems in the case of WB the law was changed and justice was served?

The trial of Wendell Baker was one of the most disturbing I've reported on.
The brutal nature of the attack was distressing enough, but it was compounded by Baker's failure to show any remorse.
His defence to the overwhelming scientific evidence against him was that police had planted semen from a used condom.
A judicial error in 1999 and the later loss of vital police case-files meant Baker almost escaped justice.
It must be galling, therefore, for those who worked so hard to secure his conviction that he's being let out at the first time of asking.

Breaking... an important development in the Wendell Baker case. Justice secretary
@RobertBuckland has asked @Parole_Board to reconsider its decision to release him. An internal review will now take place. Reminder of the Board’s decision :

In January 2019 Mark Newby stated on Victor Nealon’s case,

”It is devastating for Mr Nealon and an appalling reflection on the system that he should be denied compensation in circumstances where the state wrongly imprisoned him for so many years”

https://www.thejusticegap.com/fight-for-miscarriage-of-justice-compensation-to-go-to-strasbourg/

Victor Nealon had his conviction overturned on the basis of finding someone else’s DNA - this finding does not mean Victor Nealon wasn’t responsible for the crime
