Title: Why do people support Trump ?
Post by: stephen25000 on November 11, 2016, 10:20:38 AM
The man is a clear racist, his pronouncements on Mexicans and others , leave no doubt on that.

He clearly has no respect for women, a clear misogynist and it is well known what he said about a 10 year old girl.

He is narcissistic in extreme.

He has a major record of business failure,

He is currently indicted for business fraud and has several other court cases pending.

What is there to like about him ?

..and he's such a popular guy that the people have voted for him to become their leader elevating him to the position of the most powerful man on earth..  What does that fact alone tell you?

Since when does wanting to expel illegals and stop illegal immigration render one a racist.

And as for these women who have conveniently appeared claiming things which supposedly happened decades ago, that speaks for itself.

As for business failure and him being bankrupted three times, so what?  He is now one of the most successful men in America if not the world, despite past failures.

A man like Donald Trump will always be a target for litigation, its the name of the game but you have to have a business background to appreciate that Stephen.

Define popular.

He received only 25.5% of the vote. Clinton, whom I also loathe got 25.6%.

So, she was more popular than Trump. Only the vageries of he American system gave him victory.

“Black guys counting my money! I hate it”

Next in the Trump record on race came a 1991 book by John O’Donnell, who had been president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. O’Donnell quoted Trump saying,“ Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys wearing yarmulkes… Those are the only kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else…Besides that, I tell you something else. I think that’s guy’s lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks.”

Why do people support Trump?

MAGA.

It has absoloutely nothing to do with him travelling state by state, talking to the citizens & pledging to lower taxes, create jobs, care for veterans & improve living standards.

It's because they all 'wacist' innit.

Something to do with Proportional Representation, Stephen.  The losers in Britain have been shouting about this one for decades.

Yet Clinton, as much as I dislike her and Trump, did win more votes.

P.S. Why should the majority be governed by a minority. The current government was elected with less than 25% of the electorate voting for them ?

Hillary Clinton actually ended up winning the popular vote by a margin of around 280,000 but due to the nature of America's electoral college system this does not guarantee victory. It is the distribution of votes that matters.

Forrest Trump has now settled 3 out of 6,000 fraud claims from the Trump University for a mere $25,000,000.

So only 5,997 to go then.

That's not counting any other cases. 8)--))

Back to the reason why people support Trump (which I don't , by the way), I think that a lot of people are just fed up , just as a lot of those who support Brexit are fed up with the way things are in this country, and they want drastic change.  For the same reasons, Jeremy Corbyn has lots of support, so does Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen, and others.

I think people are fed up with "middle of the road" politicians who don't make drastic changes.

Some people don't like the fact that we have lots of immigrants.

Some bemoan the lack of jobs, because a lot of our unskilled and manufacturing jobs have gone.  I remember when one could leave school at age 15 or 16, go into a job for life, and work one's way up. Not so easy any more.

Some are angry because they can't afford to buy a home.

Some are sick to death of the NHS getting worse and worse, etc.

I find it odd that we live in one of the richest countries in the world, yet we are always being told that the government has no money, that councils have no money, etc.  I think all the trouble started in the 1980s, when they started privatising everything. A few people now have money, most people don't, and they are reliant on the "state".

I don't know what it is like in the US, but , if it is like here, then I am not that surprised that people voted for Trump. They think he will change things, not just talk about it. Personally, I think he is bad news. I didn't want Brexit either, but still----------

'Hail Trump!': White Nationalists Salute the President Elect
Video of an alt-right conference in Washington, D.C., where Trump’s victory was met with cheers and Nazi salutes.

Trumps new Chief of Staff apparently 'admires' Spencer.

It's quite sickening, Trump should come out and publicly condemn these White Supremacists but of course there's not a chance of that happening any time soon.

Absolutely no chance of that.

I wonder if Alice thought the people on the video are good ol' ordinary American folk. 8)-)))

I sincerely hope the people on that video are not representative of yer average American, did you watch it?   would think most Americans would be sickened at the sight of grown men and countrymen giving the Nazi salute.

The silent majority have been steadily trampled over by the establishment in both the UK and the USA and they are simply fed up with it.  People perceived the EU taking over their lives to an even greater extent and saw the waste while food banks continue to appear in every town in the UK.  Traditional Labour supporters could see that they were being failed by their elected representatives so when the opportunity came they took it and voted for Brexit.

Same in the USA.  Workers could see their pay and living standards being eroded year on year with the elitists on Capitol Hill not giving a damn.  Trump milked this for all it was worth and turned the populous voted to his own advantage.  Now the same thing is happening in Europe with the people of Italy revolting in the very same way.  This trickle could become a raging torrent by the end of next year and that frightens the EU more than anything.

You all kill me at times.  There is nothing new going on.  The People all just got thoroughly fed up.

PS.  France is fine.  The Euro is fine.  Nothing changes in my life except for exchange rates due to the falling or rising Pound.  Mostly falling these days.  The Pound is a joke, along with my Basic State Pension.

It went back up 6 cents a few weeks ago Eleanor from €1.11 to €1.17 which can only be good news?

It is indeed.  I will only be down by about 50 Euros this month.  That is a lot of money on a basic State Pension of approx  520 Pounds a month

No Winter Fuel Allowance, and the temperature in my house is around 12 degrees, with one very small heater, as I dare not risk a large electricity bill at the end of Winter.
