In the case of Shannon Matthews:
The properties the dogs searched contained a high level of second hand furniture bought from dwellings where someone had died. This resulted in numerous indications that required further investigation to confirm whether they were connected to the investigation, or to previous owners of the furniture.

Based on the above the odour is capable of being transferred from one location to another via inanimate objects but does it stop there? What about secondary contamination? EG lets suppose a chair was an affected item above, if someone then sat in/on the chair would the odour then transfer to his/her clothes? If he/she then sat elsewhere in/on another chair would this also then carry the odour?

Have you tried to read http://eprints.staffs.ac.uk/4750/1/Forensic%20Canine%20Foundation%20.pdf "Rorensic Canine White Papers? In the Grime talks about cross contamination and secondary contamination from memory.

Transfer is immediate e.g. if you touch a cadaver then pick up a soft cuddly toy, the toy will be contaminated with cadaver odour.

And if you touch the cuddly toy after its been contaminated and touch something else? And if you put the cuddly toy next to a t-shirt? What about if you touch a corpse then touch a light switch or a tap? How many times would t-shirts, light switches and taps have to be cleaned before the odour was not detectable by a dog? How old would the cadaver have to be before contamination of cadaver odour was transferrable?

Mrs Mc Cann´s checked trousers were signalled by the dog but she was wearing them on TV in the days after Maddie disappeared. Why did the dog not signal the sofa or bed or kitchen chair in the new Mc Cann apartment?? The one they were moved to before renting the villa. My take is the perp lifted Sean at some stage and his t shirt/ shorts contaminated the clothes in that pile. I only came to this conclusion due to the excellent work done by people on this forum on the dog videos.

I'd say the same as I said to you earlier on another thread:
"You don't seem to be taking into account Goncalo Amaral's theory of moving the body. What Kate or whoever moved it, was wearing then would be more important than what Kate was wearing on the night of the 3rd."
-
I think the Mc Cann parents had nothing to do with it. Why no alert to Gerry´s clothes? When did Kate get a chance to move a cadaver? In broad daylight?? Anyhow, it is clear they were leaving the patio doors open all week. How could they know on the Monday Madeleine was going to fall inside the flat and die on the Thursday and they would need a get out clause with the patio doors? Makes no sense.

None of the suggestions, and outright accusations of McCann involvement make any sense.
You don't have to like The McCanns. In fact I have no opinion at all about these people. Beyond the fact that I had done exactly the same thing with my children.
The interesting thing to me is that initially I completely forgot that I had done this and joined in with the kicking about their child care. What a disgrace I was to myself.
I still don't know why I did this.

It is not clear they were leaving the patio doors unlocked all week because Fiona said she knew they were using the front key door to check on them. Gerry went back to England a few weeks after the disappearance. Did you check his luggage? The PJ wanted the dogs to check their Leicester home.

When Jane Tanner was asked she said it was obvious. You have to think they often left the Tapas together and walked up the hill with the Mc Canns going up the steps. It´s in her rog!!
-
By the way I don´t think Smithman was an innocent father either but I am almost sure it was not Gerry Mc Cann .
I have to say almost as I was not there and the information we have is a bit sketchy

This Thread is in danger of going Off Topic, due in part to me. Sorry about that.
So if we could get back On Topic, this would be good.

What was obvious to the unreliable witness who claimed she passed within feet of two men who did not see her? Jane Tanner is the so-called mysterious woman in purple Jez Wilkins saw hanging outside the apartments.

You have some proof of this, do you?
-
Yes they have proof of the text message sent by Jane at that time on 3 May 2007. Jenny Murat described the woman being in purple and having long black hair. Jane Tanner had long black hair as seen in footage on 4 May 2007. If you think there were two women in purple seen hanging outside the apartment at that time with long black hair then you better find the second one @)(++(*

I agree that Jez saw Jane Tanner outisde one of the flats. Was she just sending a text or does it have some bearing on the case? I also agree that her description of sighting a possible abductor is strange as neither Jez nor Gerry saw her. Ok. But why should she make an alibi for Gerry Mc Cann? Why not for her partner, if you want to go down that route? Maybe the explanation is simpler-- Jane saw a man later when she was on her way to relieve Russell. They had been drinking a bit. My memory is not 100% perfect even when I don´t drink. Part of the problem is that nobody warns you in advance that you are going to have to remember things or that some things are going to be important.

I know Amaral suspected all the Tapas group on ground floor used the patio doors and Jane popped up the little alley and that is why neither Jez nor Gerry saw her. We will never know as everyone wanted to distance themselves from putting their kids at risk after Madeleine was found to be missing
