Brett Colins has cleared a few mysteries up.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/119648317/so-my-best-friend-turned-out-to-be-a-mass-murderer
Jeremy Bamber stole Granny Speakman’s diamonds from her safe before he went to New Zealand — so this is obviously where the rumour about him having diamonds stemmed from. He’d not stolen them from a jewellers, he stole them from his elderly bed-ridden grandmother. He prised them out of some of her hugely valuable jewellery collection...
Wasn’t there talk he’d got a jeweller to make some rings up for him with a few of the diamonds?
Brett also says how Jeremy was a Jekyll & Hyde character, and was disliked in NZ due to his aggressive character....and I bet he was pig sick when he tried to buy $5,000 of Heroin out there and got ripped off. It’s all adding up now....that must have been when Jeremy phoned Nevill saying he needed money, fast. And maybe that’s another reason he had to flee NZ quickly: the Heroin dealers probably threatened him after ripping him off, and he was scared stiff.
But it didn’t stop Jeremy snorting Cocaine all night long when in clubs...
I also noticed how Brett said Jeremy hired a house in the south of France....Jeremy played it down to police and said he’d stayed in a caravan. That really stuck out when I read that; he’s FAR too grandiose to stay in a caravan. Brett is so accurate when he recounts what happens, as it all fits into place. Even them climbing out the back window of Sheila’s flat to avoid the press, when they were going to France...that’s rumbled Jeremy’s other lie: that he drove to WHF & broke in to get documents for his trip. Oh...the lies...the thieving...shi**ing on your own doorstep...stealing from your GRANDMOTHER.
I’m sure even now the Boutflours and Eatons can verify just how many diamonds were missing from Granny Speakman’s jewellery collection.
What a stinking evil dirt rag he is.

Have the Boutflours and/or the Eatons ever mentioned anything being missing from Granny Speakman's jewellery collection?
I wonder why BC has come forward now, after all these years ? I don't trust him any further than I can throw him, TBH, although I , myself, wonder whether Jeremy got someone else to commit the murders , having planned them.

Jeremy told Julie about having diamonds. the Boutflours may not have know the item was missing - it's an odd thing to have made up and I wouldn't put anything past Jeremy. BC didn't come forward, he was asked to comment after the White House Farm drama.

It's possible.

Gossip.

It would partially explain why he so vehemently and stoically sticks to his not guilty plea - and he can't exactly admit that to anyone either.

Who do you ask to shoot two sleeping boys and not wonder if they will turn you in?

It's a very pertinent question. I doubt leafy Essex was overrun with ex-KGB hitmen who would take couple of winkled diamonds and a small bag of toot in exchange for the cold-blooded assassination of 5 family members including 2 six year old children.

You might recall 'Samson' who put in a brief appearance here a few days ago, I understand he's based in NZ and I'm going to email him later to see if he can shed further light on the BC story. A recent statement allegedly from BC and published in the tabloid press is at complete odds with his 85 statement to the police.
With regard to the diamonds, tiara etc, if there's any truth to this it seems to me me they were more likely to originate from Granny Bamber than Granny Speakman. The former, according to CAL, run an upmarket boutique off or nr Bond St. Her daughters lived in South Africa (diamond mines) both of whom passed away before their mother who died in a home near WHF Dec 81 (I think). I can't remember all the political history re what was Rhodesia and now Zimbabwe but a lot of white people left the country and/or off loaded their assets. Is it possible any such diamonds originated from the Bamber's as opposed to the Speakmans?

Highly possible. Very probable. The Speakmans didn't move in High Society circles. Whether or not they still did, I think the Bambers may once have. I'd be prepared to put money on any tiaras coming from that side of the family.

Collins is entitled to change his mind just like APRIL and Caroline did!
As for Samson, why waste your time on the clueless?

What is?
That article. The diamonds. Jeremy Bamber's father being a retired High Court Judge and a stern man. Were there suits of armour at WHF? Were there thousands of pounds in the safe? Collins' memory seems to be playing tricks on him.

Julie also mentioned that Bamber said he had diamonds. Jeremy embellishes so it's not unlikely that instead of telling Collins he was a magistrate, he said he'd been a high court judge. Whatever Jeremy took or sold from WHF was gone - we'll never know (for sure).

Was it JM who mentioned the diamonds in her ws? Thought it was SB?

As Nevill wasn't ever a High Court Judge -he was a magistrate- it stands to reason that he couldn't have retired from being one.

Brett Collins was contacted by the press when WHF was about to be televised: he never came forward. And it isn’t just now he’s decided Jeremy killed his family; he’s been convinced of it for years.

It’s quite possible that Granny Bamber gave Nevill and June some of her jewellery and it was kept at Granny Speakman’s house for safety reasons.

G-Unit, don’t you realise that Jeremy either made out to BC Nevill had been a High Court Judge (psychopathic lies & exaggerations/grandiosity), or Brett, being a Kiwi, confused a JP as being a judge? Even some British people confuse Magistrates with Judges...
There possibly was thousands of pounds in the safe: £5000 is “thousands of pounds”...

Julie's WS 10th Sept 1985 - it's on this forum - page 13. It also mentions him stealing the watches.

It’s also where JM states she believes Bamber to have been ‘bisexual’ as opposed to ‘gay’
“Although I cannot say if Jeremy is gay I believe him to be bisexual although to my knowledge I do not believe he’s practised it since knowing me”

You could consider contacting Bevan Hurley the journalist who wrote the article?

“Bamber's diving trip hit a snag when he lost the $5000 in a drug deal gone awry.
Collins says Bamber had met a would-be heroin distributor at a bar in Auckland city, but got ripped off and lost everything.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/119648317/so-my-best-friend-turned-out-to-be-a-mass-murderer
Did Bamber plan to ‘distribute’ heroin himself?
Has anyone contacted the journalist to find out more?
Maybe he’d be willing to put them in touch with Brett direct ie pass on contact details?

Nevill hadn't retired. If there were thousands in the safe the relatives would have found it first.

Only inasmuch as Brett would set him on the right road and wean him off turgid Edna O'Brien. A thankless task, I know, having experienced your inability to see the light and truth of what happened.

I'd still like to know how he managed to get diamonds -of any size- out of their settings. I managed, by accident, to poke out a very tiny one with a needle when I was trying to clean collected gunk out of the back. I don't think it would be possible with larger stones.............and it's an experiment too far for me to attempt!!!

That’s right.
Jeremy told Julie he’d had a gay relationship before meeting her but hadn’t had any since.
But then again, he would hardly tell her if he’d had dalliances, would he?

Oh, that would have been a relatively large amount of Heroin back then
JB clearly had plans to sell it on....probably by mixing it too, and getting double the money. Never mind those poor addicts dying from ther last fix...Jeremy just wanted the MONEY

Well yes, if he's not a bag head himself, then he's intent on selling it - to bag heads. For money. That's how drug dealing works for everyone.

Yes, but dealing in a class A drug such as Heroin is somewhat different to selling homegrown marijuana...
Heroin kills people. Destroys their lives. Destroys their family’s lives. All Heroin dealers should get full term life in prison IMO

Really? Seems harsh. There'll be about 100 dealers (of Class A drugs) of varying levels on your average council estate, some will be children.

I don’t live on a council estate or know anyone who does, but I’m shocked to hear they have about 100 Heroin dealers on them!
If that’s the case the police should round them up and hold them in prison until they reveal their main source.
Heroin is a DISGUSTING drug!

'About' 100 'class A' drug dealers - cocaine being overwhelmingly the most ubiquitous.
Bear in mind the term drug dealer is pretty wide-ranging, given that 8 year olds are doing deliveries on bikes for 16 year olds, who are distributing for small scale gangsters, etc, etc.
Anyway, we digress.

If you aren't bothered about the setting, it would be easy to remove the stones. Small pair of pliers would do it.

Due to the current activity levels on the board we need to maintain the following rule set out on the homepage:
* Posters are asked to keep to thread topics where possible
Going forward I will be removing all posts that are off topic.
Thanks.

I find it hard to believe children of just eight-years-old deal in drugs: how would you possibly know this?

Read CAL’s book and all the OFFICIAL evidence
I’m bored answering your questions...
You appear to have incredibly little knowledge about the facts, so before arguing over things you’re clueless about do some research. I’m not on here to explain to you, you know.
I’m not contributing much here anymore. I find it tedious and boring...some have agendas and have been repeating the tired old nonsense for years...
I’ve better things to do than argue with people who refuse to listen or can’t comprehend.
The man is guilty as hell and there’s nothing left to discuss...it’s just going round in circles and is extremely boring
The facts are that you have made many claims but have been unable to support them with evidence. Despite that you seem to expect people to accept everything you say as factual. People aren't quite so naive, Ispy.

Spy, as you've decided to contribute less, does that mean you'll take more care to get your facts correct instead of posting sweeping, and frequently erroneous claims that you can't back up?

I do get my facts correct, April, and I don’t make sweeping generalisations
To tell me I frequently make erroneous claims is untrue. I’m not illiterate, I’m not unintelligent, and I’m not a liar. Obviously, we can all make irrelevant mistakes of little significance, and if I have very occasionally made any — again, of no importance, anyway — I admit it and correct it.
I don’t know what your problem is, April...
