Why did they give false/incomplete/misleading information during interviews?
Was their objective to find a missing child?
Was the false information ever supported and followed up by higher authorities in Portugal?
What were they playing at?
Why did their case fall apart afterwards?
What genuine evidence did they have?
Where they trying to "fit up" the Mccanns?
Has any information come to light since those interviews to prove that they were right?

On September, 7th, 2007, Mrs Kate Healy was questioned by the Polícia Judiciária (Inspectors João Carlos, Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Paiva). The first part of the interview was about generalities like, how was Madeleine's behaviour, her relationship with her siblings, her relation with parents and relatives, etc.
Why was the question "Will you do a reconstruction" - not asked?
Why was the reconstruction not considered important at that time?
-
Good question.
They either lied or (conceivably) just didn't understand the results they had.
In many respects, Portuguese protocols and procedures seem to fairly closely mirror American where, I understand, it is a legitimate practice to lie to suspects in an attempt to extract confession.
I think the rationale goes something like that if you genuinely have nothing to hide, such tactics will fail and the case will fall apart.
Beyond dispute, no charges were brought against the McCanns ...

I was expecting a lot of replies to my questions!
Were they not valid?
-
so - why did they PJ lie?

Obviously you don't know what a police interrogation is. And they didn't lie. Read the files.

The files say that the PJ lied in the interview.

Can no-one explain?

Can no-one explain?
I think Amaral was simply desperate to get 'a result' - which he may well have got if the McCanns had been guilty - as the false DNA results which were bandied about during those interrogations may well have convinced a guilty person that there was no point in continuing to lie - if they believed that what they were being told was true. After all - DNA evidence is universally regarded as irrefutable.
Conversely the fact that they did not 'fess up' even after hearing the DNA 'evidence' put to them, should have told Amaral that he was barking up the wrong tree - as HE would know that THEY did not know that they were being lied to. (hope that makes sense)

nailed it again poster
Amaral's conduct had nothing to do with proper police procedure or due diligence
but everything to do with chauvinism and machoism:
- How DARE that English WOMAN not be intimidated by my tried and trusted methods of extracting a confession
No crazy lock mechanisms or imagined lichen on window sills...
Here in a nutshell is Amaral's hubris and consequential downfall
-
Kate stood up to Amaral - who could not handle that at all
The serious mud slinging was about to start
Amaral's miscalculation: pre the disappearance - he was a rather large fish in a tiny pond - able to get away with
mu..... ehhh - anything
Now AP and Reuters et al had their microscopes trained on him - and the large fish - turned into a rosy barb - and was flushed down the crapper
