Welcome to the forum Lisa, we look forward to debating the Bamber case with you. 8((()*/

Hello. I do not profess to know every single minutiae of the case, but have read enough on both sides of the argument to feel that the conviction might be unsafe. I believe that an appeal should be allowed, and that Bamber's guilt or lack of it be determined by a jury who have been presented with all the facts, many of which have never been raised in a court of law. I do not know whether he is guilty or innocent and do not profess otherwise, but I do believe there is some doubt, and that he therefore has a right to have his case reviewed. That is all.

Hi Lisa and welcome to the discussion. Bamber had his trial by jury and they found him guilty. If he had a trial today he would be found guilt unanimously as we know lots more about his actions and also now have the benefit of DNA.
The CCRC have looked at his case at length and decided that there is no reason to refer the case to the Court of Appeal, I agree, there is no reason.
I would love to know why you think there is a reason?
-
At risk of repeating myself, I do not know who is right, but the evidence should all go before a court so it can be decided fairly. That is my view, no more complicated than that.

Yes I appreciate that Lisa but we can all say this is wrong and that is wrong without giving a reason. Why do you personally think the case should go to the appeal court when the CCRC who have looked at all the evidence don't think so? Do you not think you are being somewhat nave?
-
I think the appropriate forum would be in a court of law.
-
I think the appropriate forum would be judge and jury.
Do you understand how the criminal justice system works Lisa? He has had the judge and jury bit and it will NEVER happen again. An appeal court judge or judges is the best he could hope for and that has now also been ended.
The bit I find so strange is that you somehow feel the case should be looked at again but you cannot say why? That"s like saying the moon is made of cheese because I would like it to be so?

Review by an appeal judge would also end the speculation that the ccrc decision is politically motivated.
-
Quite right re judge and jury, a careless error.
-
And I have said why.

It has been reviewed by two judges. The case will never go back to court for a very long time now if ever. Bamber's options are at an end basically.

This is what you said. You admit to not knowing an awful lot about the case but you state that the guilty verdict was somehow unsafe? Are you for real Lisa?
Please state why you think the verdict is unsafe.
-
I have read a fair bit actually, although probably not as much as you. I think it *might* be unsafe, as there is in my mind some doubt on the basis of everything I have read. I don't know one way or the other. You believe there is none but there are as many people who would agree with me, that's just the way it is.

Welcome. Lisa.

Welcome Lisa ... in my opinion Bamber has had his day in court and his day in appeal court and his days at the CCRC. His defense have used all and every possible angle to try and get Bamber freed ... a scattergun approach ... and they have always failed miserably. That's because either Bamber or Sheila must be guilty and Sheila could not have committed the murders.
I do accept your point of view that the case is unsafe and should be tried again. I don't think that will ever happen again though.
I look forward to your input and comments. 8((()*/
