That was another reservoir, Barragem do Arade, much further away so he if was involved they searched the wrong one. Barragem da Bravura is closest to PDL. After nothing came from the Silves reservoir maybe the thought was they wouldn't bother searching another.

The desolate reservoir in Barragem do Arade - 150ft deep in places - has a beach and a walkway leading to a tower. It matches clues the Portuguese lawyer was given.

I don't buy this 'dumped in a reservoir' story because who in their right mind would take the risk of abducting a kid only to get rid of them in such a manner?   The entire episode was probably invented as a distraction at a time when investigators were getting too close to what really befell Maddie.

A reservoir is being scoured by specialist police divers as the hunt for Madeleine McCann intensifies.

Detectives are said to be preparing to search a 10-mile area around Praia da Luz, where the child vanished on May 3.

The hunt is also focusing on the Barragem da Bravura reservoir, which is around 15 miles away from the Algarve resort.

Paulo Rebelo, the man who is now heading the investigation, has ordered his officers to search the 2.5 mile-wide reservoir.

His investigators are also set to comb a three-mile stretch of coastline and beaches near Praia da Luz.

A spokesman for Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann said: "Any widening of the search area is encouraging and we welcome it."

The previous investigation team was criticised for not searching properly for Madeleine, who went missing shortly before her fourth birthday.

Mr Rebelo has assembled a team of specialist detectives to boost the investigation, including two murder experts.

Portuguese newspaper Diario De Noticias claimed the search areas were related to mobile phone calls made by Madeleine's parents and their friends.

Not the easiest thing in the world to locate a body which someone doesn't want found.  Alice Gross was under 3ft of water and was near to where she was last seen ... what chance would even a team of divers have had searching an area such as the reservoir for a little child.

No Anna Eddie was only used in PDL.

The dog has successfully in training and in operational casework located a human cadavers in water either from the bank side or when deployed in a boat.

In all cases of missing persons who are suspected of being murdered, the nearest area for water disposal should be considered for an underwater search.   (NCOF)
