I don't know if anyone is familiar with the case of Jody Plauche. Back in February 2004, Jody was kidnapped by the karate teacher Jeffrey Doucet. During a 'collect call' made by Doucet, Mrs Plauche asked for, I think it was 'time and charges' which is basically the location of the call and how much it'd cost, it's a bit like our reverse charges and the police were able to 'storm' in and get Jody, who thankfully was 'unharmed', I say it in the sense that he was alive.
When Doucet was returned to Baton Rouge, Jody's dad, Gary was there and shot Doucet who was killed immediately. At trial, Mr Plauche pleaded no contest to manslaughter and was given probation and community service.
I have seen a documentary in which the prosector sais she would probably not find a jury who would convict for murder because she felt it was a justifyable act and I think she's right.
