Why would he donate the proceeds to charity?

Personally I thought  his book was really good in showing how he explored his grief and his open minded approach to different ways of doing so.

In addition he looked very much at Jeremy being a victim of his upbringing just as Sheila was. Both adopted, both then sent away to boarding school at a young age. Neither shown much affection by June and even though Neville was more affectionate he was overwhelmingly busy running a farm.

June doesn’t come across well as a parent for either Sheila or Jeremy both of whom needed far more in the way of affection than they experienced. Then you have June’s mental illness and her religious mania .

I’ve always thought Jeremy guilty but part of my interest is what led him there and I like that Colin makes an attempt to understand this.

Yes he does attempt to understand much which is why I was surprised when he appeared on one of the daytime TV progs saying he started to have doubts about JB based on his behaviour post murders.  I would have thought CC more than most with all his grief training would understand that everyone grieves differently!

Yes, Colin more than most should understand that. That Grief could also manifest itself as a well timed collapse just as the cortege rounds the corner and into the view of the waiting press cameras...

‘.....as well as reports on the behaviour and progress he had made in prison, there was no reason to depart from the view held in 1988 by the Lord Chief of Justice and the Secretary of State that he should never be released.

It doesn't mention that but given that he didn't really have contact with them before, I doubt he has contact now.
