I doubt he's a Poisonous Liar.  But he is a bit of a septic fibber.

Any middle aged man sporting an earring is not a good look.
"Says it all" Lol.
IMO.

Aren’t you one of the posters who berate other posters for bringing the parent’s appearances into the argument ?

Is Nick casting aspersions on the ECHR judges?

Sources close to the family also fear Brexit may have an impact — with judges taking “vengeance” over Britain leaving the EU by ruling against them.’

Poor, poor them.  Picked on by the PJ, the 'trolls', the media, Amaral, the Portuguese Judiciary, and perhaps the ECHR judges!

Of course Brexit doesn't affect the rights of UK citizens in relation to the ECHR. Something which 'the sources close to the family' seem to be unaware of.

Lol.
It's the wearing of a earring by a middle-aged man which I criticize.
It's a fashion which in my opinion is not suited to middle aged men.
If Gerry McCann decided to sport an earring, I would find it equally ridiculous.
If at anytime in the future he does so, you have my word that I will be just as critical.

So what?  I suppose you think they should have soaked up all the lies and the smears and suffered in silence, doing nothing to counteract them for 11+ years, just like you no doubt would have done.

Isn't it dreadful the abuse and vitriol that the parents of a missing child have had to endure.
Quite shocking reading those links.

His minor perjury conviction has no relevance to the McCann case Sadie. He is free to sue if he so chooses and I can't see any Portuguese court denying him justice given what has already transpired.

I don't think a conviction for perjury can ever be considered minor.

Among the definitions for perjury are ~ lying under oath ~ giving false evidence/testimony ~ bearing false witness/testimony ~ making false statements.

"Amaral was found guilty of falsifying evidence" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1186727/Madeleine-chief-detective-convicted-falsifying-evidence-separate-missing-child-case.html

In my opinion it is incompatible for a senior police officer whose conviction for the criminal offence of perjury was upheld on appeal to continue employment as his word can no longer be relied upon.
Quite often I believe the opportunity is taken to go before being pushed and losing one's pension rights.

Maybe describing Amaral as a 'poisonous liar' could be considered a bit OTT but I think that might be qualified by whether or not you are the one he is telling lies about ... as per his conviction for falsifying documents.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

In my opinion the most shocking link is the one which accuses the investigators of a headlong rush to make Madeleine's parents suspects in her disappearance knowing the weakness of their case against them could not have happened when the change in the law came into force only days later.
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/portuguese-police-rushed-to-make-mccanns-suspects-to-avoid-new-law-6623136.html

If that wasn't deliberate character assassination I wouldn't know how else to describe it.

Does it enter the realm of poisonous lying though?  Only I think if it could be proved that the forensic evidence had not actually been misunderstood.

“Gonçalo Amaral was convicted for simple false statement, since the version of the alleged fall on the stairs of Leonor Cipriano wasn't proved. Thus, the court considered that Amaral had lied, in order to cover the actions of his unknown colleagues.

The court concluded that António Nunes Cardoso falsified a document, which reported the fall on the stairs of Leonor Cipriano. The sentence for Cardoso was aggravated, given his position as a police officer, "of whom is required to fight the crime."

So basically because the court didn’t believe the fall, the officer who documented it and the officer who repeated what he was told were convicted. Bit of a miscarriage of justice really.

In what way was it a miscarriage of justice and if it was, why was there no appeal?
