And both were sure that Madeleine's fate was determined by her parents ?
They were both convinced that her parents were responsible for her death/ disappearance/ faked abduction?
Never too sure what some sceptics believe?

I don't think Alice ever had a specific theory; he was more interested in the libel trial & how it would pan out.
Blacksmith - his writing speaks for itself although a translator is recommended to help ascertain what the heck he's on about.
Both would have been more at home in smoking jackets at a Gentlemen's club. Quite what their respective fascinations were with down-market social media I can't begin to wonder.
All IMO.

Yes dearest Alice...aka.... (not telling)

we shared emails and pms. He was a wonderful person- we shared humour stories. he was very ill with complicated conditions. I loved his intellect, honesty, and wit.  I guessed he was with Blacksmith when I was out of the country and didn't see his posts.

RIP. x

I found him quite objectionable and abusive, (though concede he may have been considered a lovely guy by those he chose not to abuse and ridicule) , so really you should have an IMO after that.  IMO.

Some posts have been unnecessarily aggressive and combative recently which is not conducive to constructive debate. By all means promote opinion and explore theories as long as such are based on facts and accepted understanding.

Finally, please keep posts amicable and informative at all times. TY.

I do remember some posts towards you that I found aggressive, not that I follow every post on here. I never understood why.

He was a bit aggressive towards me as well for a while, but then calmed down. No idea why, either.

He did think the McCanns were probably involved, but wasn't that swayed one way or another. Fair enough as no one knows what did happen.

We ended up chatting about other things via PM, and I found him quite likeable in the end.

Genuinely sorry that he's died.

With light and convivial in mind does anyone else remember the Whit Walks?  I was discussing Whitsun today and explaining how it used to move, like Easter, until it was changed in the early '70's.

I'm afraid I've never heard of it before.

Would you like to tell us a bit more about it?

Sorry, SIL. I realise that the thread got derailed when I asked if Alice was OK.

Church congregations would walk round their Parish Boundaries with banners and bands. Children would be dressed up, often in the same dress material and flowers would be carried by the girls. It was largely a north of England tradition, it seems.

It's not a problem.  I start 'light and frothy' threads so members can vent some steam on things unconnected to Madeleine.

I am sorry that Alice has passed away.  I found his posts to be cryptic, but to each his own.

I thought Slarti had gone AWOL, but I see he/she is posting again.  Good stuff!

Whitsuntide was a church festival, something to do with so many days after Easter, like most festivals its been hijacked to suit a school holiday.

Thanks.  There's a lot of history captured on photos there.

It's interesting to see that the Northeners got their children to participate in a 'fairytale' fun experience.

That's how we came to be discussing it, when I said it was Whit Sunday and everyone said 'What's Whit Sunday?" Then I had to point out that today isn't actually Whit Sunday, but it would have been when I was young.  %77*
