Did you solve the previous case?
In my way of thinking I did, but you know, the System always wants more.
The next thing I'd have to do would be something like "find the bodies". So in the back of my mind I'm still thinking of doing a physical search for the remains.  In fact a cadaver dog would be the best thing out, now that I know how capable they can be, but I don't know if there is any in NZ.

If it's woodland or scrubland or some such, then you could hire a guy with GPR. After all, it's a detection tool that may or may not find 'evidence' of disturbed ground / voids.

Maybe I'll have to invite Grime over to enjoy a holiday in the Marlborough Sounds.  It would be difficult to bring a dog into NZ.  Quarantine requirements etc.

$450 a day plus expenses - a snip for such a prestigious, experienced, successful and much-vaunted duo.
Imagine the kudos 'Local Amateur Sleuth Cracks Murder Case'. Retired vet, Rob Ittybob from Watayagadadoo has been praised by police today, for leading them to the remains of etc....etc.....

The flights  for Grime and the dogs and accommodation  all up it would be $50,000.  My kids will not be speaking to me.
It gets to the point of being out of the question.

New Zealand has deployed cadaver dogs in at least two cases.

I don't know if NZ currently has a cadaver dog unit, but I cannot see a reason why they would cease training such teams.

In answer to the thread title I would say potentially they are a force for good.

Look no further than Joe Karam and Judges For Justice.

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

This shows how a police officer of long experience made a simple error by overlooking important info that took him way off track.

In Ian Horrocks first report he states:

Why else would the child be wearing pyjamas? If the person was taking a child back to their home or apartment, then she would not have been in pyjamas.

He's obviously oblivious to the OC run night creche whereby children are put to bed and then collected by the parents.

IH placed a lot of emphasis on the Tannerman sighting which in all probability was Dr Totman with his child.

Being from NZ I've heard of Joe Karam, but not Judges for Justice.

[I still think David Bain was guilty so Joe Karam actually got a guilty person out of prison IMO.]  Do you have some NZ connection too?

Well I'm inclined to see DB as innocent.  In any event JK was a business person and sports person ie no forensic/legal experience/qualifications and he got DB freed.  NZ don't free the convicted unless they have good reason to do so.  Lundy is still behind bars.

Judges for Justice are a US team led by Judge Heavy.  I met a team member on another forum.  Quite an impressive bunch of people who played a pivotal role in the AK case.

Point is ordinary people can assist in these cases whether they be unsolved crimes or miscarriages of justice.

Amanda Knox.
That is ongoing saga.  I have heard about it, but no particular views on the matter.
