John opening paragraph...
"There was a time when barely a day went by without a Madeleine McCann story appearing in the British or Portuguese Press. It appears that this is no longer the case, no new theories are being espoused, no new suspects are being exposed, even the trolls have gone away."

Very much on topic- discussing why newspapers are not as enthusiastic about MBM being found. AND about trolls...

I think John's opening post contains one error.  That is that "the trolls have gone away".
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Topic please.
Which is ... "Has everyone given up on Madeleine McCann?"  Thank you.
Have the parents, I wonder?
Abductions by strangers are the rarest type of cases of missing children. 95% of missing children have run away (not a factor in this case). 99.8% of abducted children are found alive - the overwhelming majority are perpetrated by non-custodial parents. Therefore given that the official line is that MM was abducted by a stranger, and the fact that she remains 'missing' some 12 years later, means that she is probably dead.
So 'given up' may mean, given up hope of finding her alive.
In terms of 'everyone', we must factor in that not 'everyone' knows about the case; not 'everyone' cares, not 'everyone' who does care has an opinion; not 'everyone' can express an opinion either way or demonstrate that opinion in a public manner, etc, etc.
But to answer the question - no. There are some people present on this forum who haven't given up. I'm not one of them.

I don’t know about the law enforcement authorities, but the findmadeleine campaign certainly has not given up. They replied to one of my mails (last week Thursday) asking a question and requesting more information.

I think your post exemplifies the attitude of those who gave up on Madeleine McCann by 4th May 2007.

JOSE MANUEL OLIVEIRA
Crime reporter, 'Diario de Noticias'
Information started circulating from sources connected to the Portuguese police that the story was full of holes from the side of the McCanns and their friends. Indeed within two days of Madeleine disappearing, this crime correspondent was filing this piece in the Portuguese Daily: Diario of the Noticias: "Headline: a badly told story." We started to receive information according to which the police suspected the theory they had apprehensions, didn't believe the theory that she had been kidnapped. To conclude, the police started to suspect the parents from the word go.

Who is the crime reporter identifying?  Seems pretty evident to me.

As this is one of your favourites but you are unwilling to start a new thread on it, I will start one myself when I have cleared two items I am currently working on.

For the moment, 'a badly told story' does not equate to 'the PJ had given up on Madeleine on 4th May'.  Does it?

When unofficially did the search for a missing child become a propaganda war against Madeleine's parents and their friends was it within two days as Jose Manuel Oliveira said on 5th May or was it closer to 13th May according to Jose Barra da Costa?

DA COSTA: People who know obviously. I cannot reveal the source here because I would lose it.

All recorded for a programme broadcast on 11th November 2007 by which time Madeleine's parents and Robert Murat were suspects in her disappearance and Amaral's book was going through the word processor complete with its message of her death.

So when exactly did the Judicial Police give up on Madeleine.  Did it coincide with the first press leaks attributed to the PJ by Jose Manuel Oliveira ... or when Amaral describes his first sight of Murat in his book?

Can't wait!  be sure not to forget to mention that Kate looked in bins- was she thinking her daughter would be dumped in there alive?
