GNR officers wear dark blue trousers and light blue shirts.  I recall seeing a couple milling around in such attire and one stuck a note to 5A taping it off as a soc.  If these officers were Jose Roque/Nelson Costa both looked 'normal' to me.  In fact I thought they looked quite  but I might have been influenced by the uniform!

Thank you. So if the Germans were using the ridge count method they should have been able to distinguish between a woman and a youth, but they didn't. I am assuming they had no knowledge of the fingertip size.

No it doesn't say anything about age/youths.  It refers to distinguishing between gender. 

We are told by PJ the unidentified adequate fingerprint found on the side of the patio door was eventually found to have originated from male GNR officer Nelson da Costa.  At the time of MM's disappearance he had been a GNR officer since 1994.  So he clearly wasn't a male youth.  He was an adult male.  Germany narrow the fingerprint down as originating from a woman or youth.

All human beings enter a youthful period between the stages of childhood and adulthood hence they are referred to as youths eg youth club.

The Germans said the fingerprint could have originated from a youth or woman.  Nelson da Costa was neither unless of course he was identifying as male but physiologically female ie a transexual?

By contrast, a simple google search is all that's needed to find out where Smithman was seen.

Here's a list of countries signed up to Interpol so on what basis did PJ single out a few countries to contact re the unidentified fingerprint?  Or were more contacted and we're only seeing limited info?

Thank you. So by 'measurements' you are referring to the gaps between ridges, which are larger in males, not to the size of the actual print.
