But Alice doesn't. I don't think the alleged nationality of the interpreters has any bearing on their skills or motivations anyway.

I think it does.. We don't know how professional these interpreters were.

So can you tell me if the statement was read back accurately

It is virtually impossible to directly translate any foreign language into English.

As I am teaching Spanish to a 70 year old, 2 40 year olds, one 9 year old and one 4 year old I would have to disagree.

So you think casting aspersions is OK even though you don't know if they're unfounded or not? Perhaps you could attempt to find out?

The signatures on the statements confirmed their accuracy, and if they didn't then the fault lies with the statement makers, no-one else imo.

Then you are wrong.  I manage with French.  But some words are not directly translatable.

that does not make you any authority on transaltions...particularly verbal ones rather than the transaltion of the written word
I remember going into a shop in spain and reading a local guide book which was in english...the english was appalling...so I would disagree with you.

We have no record of what the mcCanns actually said to the PJ ...only  a non verbatim translation. If you want to beleive thats 100% accurate thats up to you...it would be a mackeral if it was ...that was an intended mistake to show how easy the spoken worrd could be easily mistranslated...

the signatures on the statements do not confirm their accuracy..thats an obvious mistake by you...particularly as those who signed them have confirmed their innaccuracy.

im not casting aspersions on any individual...rebelo questioned their accuracy as did Sutton..
The fault lies with the inept way the statements were taken

i posted a sentence from gerys satement where he refers to an internal door...that was closed but not locked. Did the internal doors have locks...its seems an obvious error in translation to me

Such as?

The ideas that exist in the human brain are near universal, so you get them expressed in most languages.

French is simpler than English.

It was described as 'entrada por uma porta vidrada de correr que estava sempra descancada e se localiza lateralment a casa' which means 'entrance through a sliding glass door that was always open and located laterally the house'. How many internal sliding glass doors were there again?

Your English is appalling, yet I still understand you.

Did the McCanns sign anything to state that mackeral was correct?

Are you suggesting that they were capable of recounting the events but incapable of noticing if a different version was read back to them?

Didn't recount it very well as Gerry made a mistake,  trauma as  a weird effect on people.

Stooping low to personal insults.. As expected..

What proof do you have that those statements are accurate... You have some evidence but not proof.  You are simply assuming they are accurate.. It's about time you realised that... But I see you as being totally closed minded to anything that contradicts your bias

You obviously are not familiar with the line in the statement I quoted
