Smithman was described carrying a child with "A description very close to that of Madeleine McCann" Tannerman wasn't,obvious who to check out,considering OG identified the person believed to have been seen by Tanner.

Orchestrated?  Seems to me 'Tannerman' was ruled out on solid grounds and the emphasis switched to 'Smithman'.

Any regular poster on the forum can evaluate Crimewatch 2013.  It was a carefully orchestrated exercise intended to downplay certain parts - Tannerman - so the public would focus on other parts - including Smithman.  Don't look over there, look over here.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt but I think you've got a point there. 
Lying under oath in the Portuguese court didn't daunt him in the slightest so how could anyone believe a word which comes out of the mouth of a convicted perjurer?

I haven't seen any evidence that amaral was a good copper or successful... Supporting the beating up suspects to extract a confession isn't a sign of being a good cop

I've spoken to police from inner cities... My opinion comes from a position of knowledge.
I don't see beating up suspects to gain confessions as being good policing. In fact it's bad policing
