I always perceived him as a nasty piece of work going from the croutons of information we knew about him, such as the Sheila photos and the arrogance in front of the police etc
But he comes across as a good bloke here, his story certainly has the ring of truth about it.

And nothing about all the things JB and/or BC were supposed to have got up to in the Antipodes which included dealing drugs including heroin, murder, armed robbery, theft of diamonds and designer watches and traveller cheque fraud.  I'm surprised JB had any time and/or energy left to satisfy the sexual appetite of a cougar with all of what it is claimed he got up to!

I posted the other day that JB talks a lot of rubbish and you disagreed with me.  The idea JB has an alibi based on the so-called movement at the window aka trick of the light is just one example of the rubbish he talks.  BC is just being honest when he knows full well that JB does not have an alibi.

Cases are also built on what witness's state. Until now, we haven't really known what this guys impressions were. He could have maintained silence but he has chosen to speak out. I just wish they has asked him about the Fielder meeting.

Seems Bamber didnt do much grieving. And before Holly says that people grieve in different ways - Bamber didnt grieve at all. Ever. Even for his six year old nephews who were slaughtered in their beds. Collins’ interview is quite damaging to Bamber’s non- existent chances of getting out. Collins was with him the whole time.

On the other hand he may be disappointed that Bamber still protest's his innocence.

How would it be in the public’s interest to overturn Bamber’s 5 murder convictions on a technicality Holly?

The fact he’s spent 34 years in prison will mean releasing him back into main stream society would present too great a risk, would it not?

What has previous research thrown up re the 437 overturned convictions following referrals made to the CoA by the CCRC?

Very possible. It was such a dreadful crime I can well understand people associated with him refusing to believe he had a hand in it.

Clearly any new forensic evidence will be very much refutable and open to interpretation.

Your absolutely right of course on BC's view being irrelevant from an appeal perspective. It is still a bitter blow for Jeremy because of the negative publicity - we have barely heard a squeak from his old partner in crime in 35 years.

I eagerly await news of this new forensic evidence.

An unregistered vehicle dealer has been fined a record $30,000 following his fifth conviction in eight years.

The 61-year-old Waiheke Island man, Brett Eric Collins, was convicted in the Auckland District Court of unregistered trading in motor vehicles.

He sold eight vehicles in 12 months, which exceeded the limit of six allowed under the Motor Vehicle Sales Act.

The $30,000 fine last month was the largest imposed under the act, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment said.

Fines for unregistered vehicle trading usually average about $4600.

Ministry registries integrity and enforcement team manager Karla Flood said the heavy penalty reflected the fact this was the man's fifth conviction since 2006 for the same offence.

"This defendant continued to sell motor vehicles for several years, despite several previous convictions for selling motor vehicles without being registered," she said.

"This prosecution is a reminder to the motor vehicle trade that enforcement action will be taken for those that don't abide by the rules."

The number of unregistered traders in motor vehicles was rising largely due to a change in trader behaviour towards online markets, she said.

"Unregistered motor vehicle traders are not subject to the checks that apply to those who are registered, and consumers may have less protection when something goes wrong.

"This penalty sends out the message that this kind of reckless behaviour will not be tolerated."

The registrar of motor vehicle traders worked with organisations such as Trade Me, New Zealand Customs and New Zealand Transport Agency to help identify unregistered traders and investigated 228 unregistered traders over the past year.

Of those, 185 investigations were finalised with no court action needed, 23 remained under investigation, and 20 cases were before the courts.

Nineteen convictions were obtained in the past year.

He is hardly a hardened criminal. selling cars without a license-  bit like parking fines really.
