(Excuse no 510) - Jeremy didn't give that reason to the vet, he only commented on the dogs behaviour post murders and given that he asked the vet to kill Crispy only a couple of days after - it's no excuse!

A friend had a small terrier which did that. Eventually I complained because it was painful, but she just shrugged. The dog came at me one day when she wasn't in the room and I back-heeled it right on the nose. She commented after that about how the dog danced round me as opposed to attacking. I kept my mouth shut, but with a little private smirk.

I agree that dogs should be taught not to nip, but I would tell my friend to please control it or put it another room when I was coming over. I wouldn’t sneakily kick it on its nose  — which is SO painful for a dog — and I certainly wouldn’t privately SMIRK about it afterwards. 🤢

I doubt you’d advocate putting down a naughty child that noone wanted but would you smack one on the nose that was annoying you?

If you'd bothered to read my post I did make her aware of the problem and she wasn't interested. Hence taking matters into my own hands. The problem was solved and we didn't fall out about it. If a dog bites me I'm going to retaliate. Whether you like my solution or not is of no interest to me.

But if you've never revealed that you kicked her pet, and felt justified in it, the relationship survives under false pretenses, does it not? Just turn the situation around. How do you think you'd feel if someone you believed to be as friend, and trusted, did something underhand and cruel to something you loved?

I don't recall G-Unit saying the dog yelped in pain and/or her friend rushed back to the room to see what all the fuss was about.

I encounter small naughty dogs often when I'm cycling, running and walking and they are a nuisance.  I've not done them or their owners any harm: I've ended up with dirty dog paws on very light jeans meaning I had to go home and change, blood drawn on exposed legs, and often getting in the way so it makes cycling and running dangerous.

I said friend, but she was more of an acquaintance. Our husbands worked together at the time. I haven't seen her for years. Unlike her, I wouldn't stand by while my dog bit people but if it did I would be quite happy for them to defend themselves.

I turned round and the owner was some 75 m behind.  I shouted can you call your dog back.  The distance was such we could barely communicate and the woman made no effort to hurry to the situation.  The dog took no notice and continued jumping up.  I had a real ding dong with the owner.  I said the dog needs to be on a lead if you can't control it to which she replied it was puppy and early and she didn't expect anyone to be about.  She did offer to have my jeans dry cleaned.

I could go on and on about naughty dogs, usually small, and the appalling attitude of the owners.

Once I was sitting on a bench eating something and a dog on a lead started sniffing around.  I asked the owner to pull it back to which he replied 'fcuk off'!

Dog owners seem to think that everyone wants to interact with their dogs and can't understand when this isn't the case.

My other half loves dogs!  And makes a huge fuss of them given the opportunity.
