Well, I have always thought she was alive, and that her parents appear to do the same.

But from the way the parents behaved I felt they had some idea of why she was taken.   There is a video of Gerry's father (may have not been his father, but it wasn't Kate's father), saying they needed the donations for legal expenses.  That to me was an indication that there was some reason to be anticipating legal expenses, in other words, I believe they knew what went on to some extent.

Thinking that she is alive and being well cared for is the only way I can think a person would take a 3 to 4-year-old.
So my thinking is she will be fully integrated into the new family and only have distant memories of the McCanns.

I can't precisely remember, Rob, but someone will.

But it wasn't as stark as it has been made to sound and was actually quite logical.  Possibly something to do with setting up The Fund because thousands of pounds were being donate without anyone even asking.
