Can anyone show evidence for the FSS informing the Portuguese police that Madeleine's DNA was found in the Scenic?

You won't find any evidence for this but it is a bit of a mystery as to why both the world press and the PJ received information which caused them to act.  It is my suspicion that someone at the former FSS jumped the gun and leaked this information before the final analyses were concluded and the reports finalised.  The debacle over the DNA LCN testing in the Omagh bombing case threw the science of DNA testing into chaos at the same time and inevitably was a factor in the subsequent report.

That is supposition. There is no supporting evidence in the files which we must assume reflect the course of the enquiry.

We do KNOW that the initial formal report did not show such a link, that it was sent intact to the PJ by Leicestershire police and following receipt of the email the PJ misinterpreted it as evidence that Madeleine's DNA was inthe Scenic. One could suggest that the press ma have been tipped off by a leak from  the PJ.

Corte-Real agreed with Lowe.

"Professor Corte-Real , who met with the FSS experts, and saw the British scientists reports and work notes, explains this issue.

When those 15 alleles are included in a mix, where beyond those 15 we can have another 30 or 40 alleles, that means that it includes biological material from several persons.

And there it can be much more difficult, much more inconclusive, because we may have a mixture from several persons, including hypothetically, if that happens, we may have several persons from the same family, and even that may give us the idea, in a way, that a certain missing person may be included, and that is not conclusive."
(From Amaral's documentary.)

That gives the lie to the claim that the FSS accidentally or purposely misled the PJ.

Corte-Real's explanation is in his own documentary...
and yet:

GA: The reports from the English labs… the English reports arrive shortly before the questionings that were scheduled. And it contained certain conclusions, if they thought they were inconclusive they shouldn't have mentioned it, the question of the 15 alleles in a profile of 19 from the little girl, stating that they match Madeleine McCann, but they also say that it could have been a construction let's say from various donors, from other persons, a contamination could have produced Madeleine McCann's profile by coincidence. But there are no excuses for saying that it is not from Madeleine McCann because they held the profiles of the father, the mother, the siblings, therefore there are no doubts that at least within that family they only matched Madeleine McCann's.

Have you ever worked out what he didn't understand in the underlined bit, Debunker?

The only thing I could think of was that he hadn't realised it was a mixed sample. But that can't be the case as (from his book):

But there was more in this first preliminary report. In the same report, the scientist went further and explained that in the profiles of many of the lab experts, elements from the DNA profile of Madeleine are present. This means that a major part of the DNA profile of any given person can be built by three donors. That is understandable.

There's something else I've never worked out.

Exclusive Interview with Gonçalo Amaral: Cadaver was frozen or was kept in the cold

24 July 2008

(...)

“The cadaver was frozen”

Correio da Manhã - What do you think happened to the body?

Gonçalo Amaral – Everything indicated that the body, after having been at a certain location, was moved into another location by car, twenty something days later. With the residues that were found inside the car, the little girl had to have been transported inside it.

How can you state that?

Due to the type of fluid, we policemen, experts, say that the cadaver was frozen or preserved in the cold and when placed into the car boot, with the heat at that time [of the year], part of the ice melted. On a curb, for example, something fell from the trunk’s right side, above the wheel. It may be said that this is speculation, but it’s the only way to explain what happened there.

Aside from the fact that the type of cellular material couldn't be established, if the only explanation for only 15 matching alleles was a thawing body, who were the other 2-4 bodies thawing in the same spot?

It is a matter of mindset. If you strongly believe something, you unconsciously or consciously, do not hear or do not understand evidence contrary toyour beliefs. See cognitive dissonance. He was convinced already of his theory that the McCanns had harmed Madeleine, so misinterpreted the evidence in favor of his ownbeliefs- his mindset.

The same goes for anti-mccanns- I have explained the science behiind this to many [ censored word ]s. Not one has understood or accepted it.

Did he ever see the boot of the scenic, or did he misinterpret internal PJ reports?

"On a curb, for example, something fell from the trunk’s right side, above the wheel."  End Amaral's Quote.

So whatever it was fell outside the trunk.  Where did it fall, and when?  There are no Curbs to The Trunk.

He isn't very good at it, is he.

Amaral was desperate to make a name for himself so the phrase "grasping at straws" is very appropriate in his case.  Oh how he must have been so disappointed when the FSS clarified their report when in horror they realised that the PJ had misinterpreted it.

Just out of interest, are there ANY moderators on here that aren't completely signed-up members of the McCann fan club?

Just wondering, like.

AS I predicted, as soon as the [ censored word]' theories are exposed to rational analysis, they start blaming the mods and the site.

Let me know when you see some rational analysis (or here's an idea, produce some yourself) and I'll let you know sweetcheeks.  8(0(*

This always happens so it is nothing new to any of us regulars.  Maybe if there was some evidence that there wasn't an abduction then the [ censored word] as you call them would get somewhere.  Sadly for them it is an uphill struggle.

I did think that those who suspect the Tapas 9 of a conspiracy to have more to say on the issue but seemingly not.  Where are all these magical theories that the [ censored word] have been proliferating these last 6 years?  Have they gone to ground?
