I did not claim anything, I merely suggested it was when I paraphrased his quote that you reproduced.  You are continually deflecting from the REAL point which is why it constitutes libel and why I was punished for it when others are not for similar transgressions.

If Clarence Mitchell and the Daily Mirror can state the blindingly obvious why can’t I?  Were either of them sued for libel?

Libel is, put simply, a published statement which defames someone's reputation. The main defences are truth or fair comment. Truth means the statement can be proved to be factual. Fair comment means the comment was an honest opinion.

In order to demonstrate that the statement "Amaral resigned to cash in on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann" is not libellous it needs to be shown to be true, which has been claimed.

I am of the opinion that the statement can't be shown to be true because the only person who can confirm the truth of the statement gave another reason entirely for his resignation.
