Until I get more information I will not comment on a "story" emB.....hed by the brittish press.
But I remember a brittish mother that abandoned a little baby on the street, close to the airport in Faro, that was taken by an Institution of that city for Children at Emergency situations - baby Carlos was adopted by a portuguese family that had lots of problems after. Another mother that was so drunk that forgot her children in the streets of Albufeira, just a little after Madeleine's case, had her children taken to a care taker centre for children, because some adults denounced the case.



More recently, in Estoril, a couple that was so distracted that their child taken on the street, later complained about the way they were treated.



And I question: what shall we do? Shall we look away when we see an abandoned child or shall we try to help the child?

I don't know if this case, reported in this newspaper is or is not a replica of what happened in this last case that occurred in Portugal, where strangers had to alert to a situation where a child was abandoned, famished and thirsty...what I know is that this sort of unfounded notices just feed hate, and even though the subject is british, the xenophobic tone is still there - these things happen in other countries.


Bull..., UK has a higher criminal tax rate in every type of crime than both Iberian countries.

I n the abandonment at the airport of the baby by the parents, no crim inal or administrative action was taken by Portuguese authorities against the parents. I took from this the belief that the McCanns could not be charged with neglect as this child was abandoned in a stroller on a busy oad near the airport as the parents argued and each refused to take the baby.

The next family you mention were Irish not British and it was never prroved whether they were actually drunk, or just false lo y accused by  concerned but mistaken bystanders. They were not charged and returned to the Republic.

a few days ago ...[before this story broke] while in asda a young boy was stood crying for his mam a female shopper took him by the hand ...she asked a chap who was near if he would accompany her to the information kiosk.[wich is situatad near the entrance]...he was a complete stranger

but obviously she had thought twice about taking him... as though she was leaving the shop........this can often happen  in packed super market ....it is your instinct to reunite child with parent as quickly as possible..

a lot of peolpe now i imagine will bypass the child and leave it to someone else...[staff never around]...for fear of being accused of kidnap..
