I don't know where he was, I just know that he didn't have an address in Luz. He lost that when he was imprisoned for theft.
So, given that he had been living in the PdL environs and given that you have no idea where he was living at the time and given his phone was used in PdL on the 3rd May then there is a good chance he was still living in the local area, right?

From an original cast of thousands in Luz at the time, the list has been whittled right down to one, if we use the stoic, simple supporter criteria.
It would appear that the checklist needs some work, guys.
Perhaps start by having a wee box for all possibilities and working from there, given that the 'evidence' precludes very little.
PEEEP. peep.

You make the point precisely.

What started in Luz in 2007 is nearing completion in Germany in 2022.

Those against whom there is no evidence have been eliminated from the inquiry.

The remainder (whether patsy or last man standing) subject to evidence based appraisal which in the opinion of those carrying out the investigation make him the prime suspect in the murder of a child.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

The case against Brueckner has been built on evidence.  That which was ignored in 2007.  That which came to the attention of SY investigators in 2013 and which has been followed and built upon since then until 2022.
Didn't you notice?
What's this evidence?

You missed the point in the 3rd sentence. The selection criteria was flawed from the get go. Blindly following one line of enquiry, it's no wonder we're where we are now - a suspect who sort of fits the bill, but not entirely.
Moreover, if the narrative is abduction / nonce / resident, and he's the best fit, then I'm afraid this folly will peter out and be consigned to the annals of German judicial folklore, wheeled out only when the next true crime series is being developed by some avaricious TV executive. HCW will be the next mouth on a stick in the coming years, similarly wheeled out to provide the inevitable 'well, we know he's our man' guff. And what's wrong with that, I suppose, all aboard the Ching Ching Train.

Hardly celebrations. Tempered relief from perception of proxy-indignation? Is that a thing?
Does it really mean anything to me? No, apart from infrequent posting inanely on an obscure forum. I'm not going to nip out and purchase a 3l bottle of White Lightning and a Gregg's sausage roll by way of celebration.
If this thread didn't exist I'd probably move on to another and post more garbage about the subject de jour.
I'm not ambivalent, I have a mild interest in my perception of the incongruity of OG.

Celebrating, Gloating, jumping to conclusions... whatever. Joking that Wolters is about to be demoted to traffic duty off the back of this seems a level above tempered relief though. I'd also point out that the joke doesn't actually make sense, since Wolters does not work for the police. But hey ho.

I understand why people object to the amount of money spent on Grange but the point is people (including the tabs) are also making the jump that this event somehow indicates that the German investigation is about to fail, when there is no evidence of that. Like I said, if Grange are of the opinion that the Germans have found the correct suspect, there is no need to continue a missing person inquiry, except maybe to assist the Germans while they finish compiling their case ahead of a charge.

Was this the one that didn't have a Death Dungeon, I've lost track?

There were two properties mentioned. One was near the golf course in Luz, and the other was further away. I don't think either were ever searched. There was talk of a cellar on a German allotment I think.

Given that it was never established beyond doubt that he was holding that phone that night, that box hasn't been ticked. Ergo his whereabouts is another unticked box.

Looks like that's what SY have concluded. If they thought CB was the man, given that Dick was briefed on at least some of the evidence, then it'd be a pretty poor show if they didn't get in behind them.
The fact that this story with no source is essentially saying 'we don't know, we give up' means that by default they're dismissing CB as a suspect, given what they know.
Time to bring the curtain down on this macarbre episode of the Muppet Show.

That doesn't mean it's not compelling. You still don't seem (or want) to understand what circumstantial means in a legal sense. CB confessing to another person that he killed her is "circumstantial". A photo, found in his hard drives of Madeleine dead would still only be "circumstantial" evidence. If they found the other caller and definitely put the phone in CB's hand thst night, this would still only be "circumstantial". Most cases rely entirely on circumstantial evidence.

Feel free to stretch credulity to fit your beliefs.  The evidence suggests he still lived in the PdL environs at the time of Madeleine's disappearance.

Creative license, queen, to paint the mental picture. Funny? No. Effective? Clearly.
The second bit? I beg to differ. There's no money. It's all gone now. There's no strategy, no collaboration, no assistance being offered; the well has run dry. Irrespective of public opinion, as, £15 million later, SY haven't really been arsed about that, they're not like a pacemaker dropping out of a 1500m race to give Steve Cram the best chance of beating Coe, they simply can't justify the inverse cost benefit analysis any longer.
Dick came back and essentially said 'they've got some dude fingered, but we're still looking for a missing person'. That's semantics to explain the ongoing nature of OG. Read between the lines and I'll bet she struggled to contain herself when presented with the shit show rolled out by HCW et al.

It's not over. It will never be over. It's gone too far now, they've got to follow through, so to speak (although some may suggest they already have).
It's damage limitation now. The hand wringing behind the scenes happened a few months ago, now they'll be looking to see how the extricate themselves and throw HCW under the wagon without it being too obvious.
The distancing themselves will be in full swing - 'he's not a real policeman', 'he misrepresented the notes we gave him', 'he went off reservation', 'we think he's Stasi', 'he's a valued member of staff, but he's being moved to the Crayon Division', 'we've removed all sharp objects, corks on forks, all that'.
That said, they can simply sit on it forever. I mean literally stick it in a lavender box file, stick it on a shelf, then the shelf catches fire - but they can maintain he did it ad infinitum. Bingo, as they say in Manheim.
All in my MHBEO, of course.

I can't believe you actually thought it worthwhile to make that post.  Although I think it says so much more about your attitude which as well as being off topic shows the importance you place on getting the boot in to other members with ridicule (which by the way, breaches forum protocols) than giving consideration to the fact that there is a prisoner behind bars suspected of murdering a child.
