Faithlilly isn't a moron.  She just doesn't see things in quite the same way that we do.

Sorry.  I am not a moderator anymore.  But I no longer feel restrained.

So take your pick, any of you.  But I don't like it when anyone is being insulted for personal beliefs, even if I don't understand those beliefs.

^^^To anyone who is willing to listen, this is what a moderator should be doing IMO. Firm and most importantly, FAIR.

Thank you.

Being a moderator wasn't a lot of fun.  In fact I became a complete wimp in the end because there were too many restrictions.

I was even half afraid to 'Like' your comments in case it was seen as bias, when in fact your Comments are among the best I have ever seen.

It's a thankless job. You cannot 'win' whatever you do.

What I think is truly desparing though is that your genuine and warranted frustration at what has been going on here lately has been ignored.

I know I'm new here but if I can see at an instant your value and the points you're making, I don't understand why others who have benefitted from your work for many years choose to see it a different way.

Wow. You just completely ignored all the legal complications I pointed out and resorted to the argument of "if they got fingerprints, they charge!". Genius.

And since you are such a legal expert on all this, tell me how you think all these legal obstacles were deftly navigated in the other rape case then? There was nothing deft about it!

It was an all round struggle, not least due to fact the Portuguese authorities have been so deliberately unhelpful and laboured. Do some research. In case you've forgotten, it was taken to the European court of appeal and his conviction was very nearly overturned on the techincality that the Germans didn't obtain the correct extradtion paperwork. Thankfully they were helped out by the Italians in all this mess and the conviction stood.

You have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about either do you?

Maybe don't assert such strong opinions on aspects you have absolutely no clue about.

Before I answer you more fully I’d be interested in the evidence for your claim that the Portuguese authorities response to the German authorities was ‘ laboured and unhelpful’ in Brueckner’s case.

Fair enough. I amended my comment. I would just say it was the logic I was criticising, not her personally. I have no real knowledge of her personal beliefs so I'm not sure what you mean. But she has not shown me any respect, quite the opposite, so I have difficulty in showing any back until it is warranted IMO.

I really wouldn’t worry about it Para. This forum is really nothing much more than a bun fight now with one side constantly trying to monster the other. You don’t know me personally so I take nothing you say personally and I’d advise you to do the same. We are more than our view on this case so it is nonsense to suppose that it should be used to define us.

Before I answer you more fully I’d be interested in the evidence for your claim that the Portuguese authorities response to the German authorities was ‘ laboured and unhelpful’ in Brueckner’s case.

Mr Wolters criticised the slow approach of Portuguese authorities in the investigation, accusing them of lacking interest in the case because the victim and prime suspect are both foreigners.

He said: “What takes one week in Germany can take six months in Portugal. I think the interest in the case in Portugal is just not that big, because no Portuguese person is involved. Also it does not shine a particularly good light on the Portuguese police, as they had totally different suspects.

“I think they would prefer to be left in peace.

Additionally, after being extradited from Portugal to serve time for the child abuse charge, CB was then meant to serve his drug dealing sentence but because the Portuguese took too long to agree to it being part of his extradition warrant, the Germans were forced to let him go and he then fled to Italy before it was eventually sorted out and they then extradited him again. The same sort of issue then happened with the rape case and so the Germans decided to ask the Italian authorities to add the permission to charge him to their extradition warrant instead of adding it to the Portuguese one even though the crime took place in Portugal.

This is a possibility.  I don't know enough about The German System to be sure.  But we certainly don't want that to happen.

Off topic but relevant to systems, Wayne Couzins a recently convicted killer is to be charged with indecent exposure, which pre dated the murder of his victim, what is the point you could ask, why not just leave them on a charge sheet, or maybe its to bring comfort to victims that he was charged, liken this to CB why should any victims wait until pre existing sentence is soon to be finished before they have their cases heard, that's cruel imo.

How is it that Wayne Couzens was convicted of abduction, rape and murder when he had no previous convictions for these crimes?  Do you think he didn’t tick any of the relevant boxes so should have been discounted as a suspect?
