With the Schengen borders policy does an EU citizen have to have a residing address for a vehicle if so where ? if living a transient lifestyle ?

Yes, you do have to have a residing address.  Number Plates are changed according to where you keep the car.

Are you suggesting that the Jaguar wasn't already registered in Brueckner's name?

In which case how could he reregister it and why would he want to?

Quite simple really, I recently sold on a second hand car for the eldest, she didn't need to be there, no signature needed all electronic. As to the why only CB would know, anyone asked him, no thought not .

I don't think that is going to work.  Brueckner hadn't lived in Germany for a very long time.

And presuming that what you suggest is true, why draw attention to yourself very shortly after Madeleine disappeared by reregistering a car to a third party that you hardly knew and had no intention of giving the car to them, unless you thought someone might be looking for the car?

Personally, I don't care, for other than forensic reasons.  But it is much too late for that now.

If the Portuguese were looking for the car it remained in the area afaik, so it was findable and, once found, connectable to Brueckner. Who else might have been looking for it?

Thank you, just for arguments sake, say CB went over the border to Spain and thought he'd stay how soon is he supposed to register an address ?

That was my point.  Sadly, The PJ didn't look for anything to do with Brueckner.

How enigmatically you pursue any pretence of discussion.  Tell me ... are you trying to be the forum comedienne; it isn't working if you are.
Are you goading me lad?

So long as you have an address registered in some country then you don't need to change anything.

I drove a French Registered car in England on several occasions over a number of years.

If the vehicle is bought outside of Germany it needs to receive an Inspection Cert from TUV, as a used car almost certainly won't have one.
This process takes weeks by way, well it did for me back before 2007 - about 6 weeks from application to finish.
It's probably quicker now, but our man CB would have known this. So just swapping the legal owner means very little for at least a couple of weeks. This aspect of this case is irrelevant.

It didn't work that way in Germany pre-2015, Eleanor. If you moved States then you needed to re-register your vehicle in the new state. You were then allocated new number plates pertaining to that particular state.

I understand this rule no longer applies.

Brueckner was driving the Jag in Portugal in 2004 on a German licence plate - he was stopped by police & charged with some sort of offence. I will find the screenshot of the reg from my old computer & add it later as proof.

I have this number plate for the Jaguar, Misty. A NM 816. A = Augsburg, Bavaria, Hanover would be H, Jaguar had M = München plates in 2004.

Here's the SS confirming the Burgundy Jag was on Munich plates in Portugal in 2004.

Zero. It's one of the many dead legs down the CB rabbit hole.
It's meaningless. ICHTT put it best, if anyone thinks CB thought it would put the police off his trail is deluded (sic).

Just imagine that instead of Brueckner doing this if either Gerry or any of the the McCann friends did this or something similar the hundreds or thousands of significances which would be found.
Imagine the documentaries ~ the books ~ the hours of pundit discussions generated; as has already been done on trivia which had nothing to do with nothing.

Brueckner had a reason for doing everything he did and I will be very surprised if we don't find out in the fullness of time that this was one box which intrigued the investigators into his crimes.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

It wass the identification of the number plate I was querying the significance of.
