Aside from meeting living expenses while in Portugal or traveling on Madeleine related matters.

Is it a MYTH that they benefited financially from the fund?

they paid there mortgage, it is irreverent if they paid it back, because at the point they used it, it benefitted them financially in respect they didn't default on their payments.

So there was a loan that helped them in the early days.

Not enough to make them Public Figures.

Go on....

I feel sorry for people who donated to the fund, little realizing that their hard earned money would be used to pay for the Mccanns expenses, legal or otherwise.

We do not know whether the McCanns benefited financially from the fund

They have chosen to publish only  'abbreviated'  accounts

This is perfectly legal,  given that the Fund's turnover allows it to be viewed as a 'small company'  with no legal obligation to file full and detailed accounts

The McCanns didn't  have  to file abbreviated accounts though  ...  they could have chosen to file full and detailed accounts in the interest of transparency

If they had,  we would be in a better position to judge whether or not they benefited financially

Agreed.

Let us see if anyone else has proof of anything other than that.

I can think of higher standards of transparency than abbreviated accounts.

It is fantastic how people are so easily (or maybe they have some agenda, like in the cults) obfuscated that refuse to see the facts.
The McCanns, when they arrived in Portugal in May 2007, were very furious (rage is their trait) because there was not a children's listening service as in other Ocean Clubs resorts, so they achieved a week in a 2 bedroom apartment for the sloppy fee of 1500€ (around 1200 £) - in the Algarve that is the lowest of the lowest grade of touristic resorts.

Their stay at the Ocean Club was totally payed by the Ocean Club and Algarve Tourism Agency (eventually), and I believe (but I can't affirm without confirming) even for their many relatives and friends that came, not to look for Madeleine, but to enjoy a nice time at the beach and at the other facilities the resort offered. Their moving from the Ocean Club was subsidized by the Algarve Tourism Agency and the Câmara Municipal (Mayor)

It was irritating to see these people (you can't imagine how many)  by the pool relaxing while others, that had no affiliation with the child, were going on and scratching the dirt, trying to find her ...A very sad sight, that I witnessed.

Fortunately the Presidente da Camara (equivalent to mayor) decided that enough was enough, and in late July/ August suspended the financial help.

The most evident consequence of this was that no more visitors came and instead, Mr. & Mrs McCann had became quite acquainted with several people in which house they would spend their time between their pre-arranged (the residents were sent out of the streets by the media-goons) appearances to the Media, or their travels abroad.

For people that could hardly pay for a low-cost holiday prior to this fateful incident, to people that would travel first class and stay in first class hotels, even have private jets to take them to wherever.....

This is not taking advantage? What id it?
How much of the millions their Fund gathered did they give to charity?
Why is the Fund still operating if they said that there is no more PIs investigation for the child?

Don't you find it an irony debunker, that someone who left their children unprotected in an allegedly unlocked/locked apartment, along with her husband, has made money from selling a book, which has come about as a result of their actions ?

As you are still here care to supply the evidence that the mortgage payments taken from the fund were actually paid back ?

Money has been made for the search for their missing daughter.  Would you take the trouble to write a book to raise funds to continue the search, if your child had been abducted?

At that stage SY were not involved.
