Amaral and Bennett kept claiming that Madeleine is dead.  I think that Bennett faced with his trial backed off a bit recently

That's enough to stop a search for a living child

How ? In what way ?

Do you have one example to illustrate your claim ?

Is it fair to say that the majority of people in the country where Madeleine disappeared are quite convinced that she is dead and buried by her parents, thanks to the efforts of Amaral and the PT media?  Or do you think the Portuguese still keep an eye out for her, just in case?

Hi Martha, I am just thinking about something Isabel Duarte said in the BBC Docu about a year ago... something about, "people think I am defending parents who killed their child".... Sorry I don't have a link but I'm sure someone could oblige.  It looks to me like a lot of PT people have Kate and Gerry marked down as guilty going by what Duarte said.  I suppose we can thank Amaral and the PT press for that.  8(8-))

I have always been baffled by this assertion as well Faithlily

"If people believe that Madeleine is dead  they will stop looking for her"

Who are the people they speak of  ?  ...  the general public  ?

...  and what is it, exactly, that they will 'stop'  doing ?

It is not something that can be evidenced,  and it will be difficult for the McCanns to  support their claim that Amaral's book damaged  'the search' for Madeleine

That or the fact that some people don't believe the crap printed in most of the sycophantic UK press and can see there is a whole lot of stuff stacked up against the McCanns and their own police force believed the parents had something to do with it, perhaps?

CEdwards, could you direct us to Portuguese news reports about this case which you believe are excellent examples of journalistic investigative reporting regarding the McCanns' role in their child's disappearance?  I would like to read them.

Where did I say there are any?

Greetings, C Ed.  You posit that "there is a whole lot of stuff stacked up against the McCanns" and "their own police force believed the parents had something to do with it".

Yet Kate and Gerry McCann were not even formally arrested, never mind charged with anything.  Go figure.

Err...?  Are you real Faithlily? 8-)(--) >@@(*&)

Then give me just one example where anything written by Amaral, Bennett or indeed by myself has stopped has stopped anyone looking, just one ?

You see that's the thing about claiming something that's unprovable, you never have to prove it.

Are you defending Bennet's campaign of stalking, lies and harrassment against the McCann family , Faithlily?

Of course not. What I m saying is it has made no difference to the success or otherwise of 'the search'.
Brietta posted on 10/04/2022 “But whether or not that is the reason behind the delay I am certain that Brueckner's trial is going to take place.”

Oh really.  So how's about some people who had Bennet's leaflet posted through their letterbox believing the crap and lies in said leaflet?

So can you prove that a few hundred leaflets posted through the letter boxes of the good people of Rothley has had a detrimental effect on the 'search' or are you just following the party line ?

It wasn't just Rothley though, was it Faithlilly? And can you prove that no-one was swayed by the lies in Bennet's pamphlets? It's getting to look like you are condoning the leaflet campaign .....

Bennett has been punished for his stupidity.

So can you please explain how the search for Madeleine has been hindered exactly ?

No case of a missing child has received such publicity, WORLDWIDE.

A reward has been on offer, at one time according to the press in millions of pounds.

Yet not one lead has emerged.

Can you explain why ?

Bennett may have been hit in the pocket, but the damage to the search from his campaign of lies is IMO incalculable.

You claim that "No case of a missing child has received such publicity, WORLDWIDE."  Cite, please?

How on earth do you expect me to explain why no leads have emerged? I'm not the police.

Madeleine McCann is the most famous missing child case in the modern world.  There are still "sightings" coming in even now. On one hand you say there's an insignificant amount of "[ censored word ]s" and that Tony Bennett is nothing and then on the other hand you want us to believe these insignificant people have derailed a missing person hunt?

Get a grip.

There you go again, using the word "[ censored word ]s" which I have not used in this debate.

Readers, please come to your own conclusions about C Edwards putting words in people's mouths that they simply have not used.

I really would like to understand your point of view  Rachel,  and perhaps if we bring it down to a personal perspective it would help

What are you doing to find Madeleine  ...  in what way do you  'look'  for her  ?

If you were to suddenly be convinced by someone else that Madeleine was dead,  what would you do differently  ...  in what way,  exactly,  would you  'stop'  looking for her  ?

Hmmm....I smell someone else who is condoning Tony Bennet's stalking campaign... however I will bite! I am not much of a traveller but my family are... they are keeping their eyes peeled for Madeleine all over Europe and North Africa.  For my own part,  I try to raise Madeleine's profile to friends and colleagues, and we all try to keep our eyes peeled.

What are YOU doing to try and find Madeleine, icabod?
