I think we're all in agreement that someone went into the apartment, & took Maddie out of it.
Amaral says Gerry did it. Wolters says it was Brueckner. Neither of them can prove it. However, the last person to claim to see Maddie alive was Gerry. So it's more likely he did it.

It’s unlikely you’ll get anything resembling a plausible logical theory of parental involvement which fits the known facts.  In a way, the whys and wherefores are not really important to your average McCann sceptic.  All they know is that they dunnit and the hows, whys and wheres are quite irrelevant to that belief.
