In my opinion many McCann sceptics will be pleased if and when Bruckner is released from prison. Many see him as a victim, as a man greatly wronged by the German prosecution service, and by HCW in particular.  They know that his release would be a real slap in HCW’s face and that is something I believe would give them great pleasure.   They also think (for some bizarre reason) that CB’s release means the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance would have to go back to square one and that the police might have to start investigating the parents again despite this being completely illogical and bonkers thinking.

Some McCann sceptics don’t even think CB is that bad of a guy anyway.  They think he was framed for the rape of the American woman and as for his crimes against children, well they weren’t THAT bad after all, and getting your genitals out for a wee in front of random children is apparently legally permissable now so…give the guy a break right?   I’ve read so many posts downplaying the seriousness of this man’s crimes on here alone so no I don’t think it’s at all stupid to ask sceptics if they would be pleased to see Bruckner being released.  I genuinely think some would be delighted.

If people are allowed to support the McCanns and their right to the presumption of innocence then I think it is only fair I can support Christian Brueckner's. If that's somehow wrong of me can you explain why? I really have no problem with the man myself. He's never done me any harm. Why should I wish ill on Him? He should be free to leave prison when he's finished his current sentence because that's how the law works. He hasn't been found guilty of any other crimes so why should he have to rot in prison for things he hasn't done?

Forum etiquette requires that you post a link (unless of course you wrote this, unlikely I know)
None of this takes away from my point that Brückner’s release from prison will been seen as a good thing by many McCann sceptics.

I think it is generally wrong to hold people in prison for longer than their allocated sentence. It is worse still to hold a person in prison for crimes they've been tried & found not guilty of. I think this is a sentiment anyone with a belief in justice & the rule of law should be in agreement on.

I think CB being found not guilty, and just about found 'sorry about this whole sh1t show that should never have occurred' in the process, and his impending release are good things. It's rule of law rigorously and robustly upheld manifest.
But let's be clear; it's a really bad thing for the McCannolytes, just as it can be viewed as a good thing for sceptics.

I don't believe that a judge who acquitted a man accused of 5 separate crimes, varying in severity, by declaring that all witnesses and victims in her courtroom were effectively lying, falls within the definition of rigorously upholding the law.  But maybe it's just me who doesn't want to see other women and children harmed if Brueckner is ever allowed to rejoin society as a free man.

It’s not just you Misty.  Whilst I appreciate that once a criminal has served his time he should be eligible for parole, but this needs to be balanced with consideration of the risk he or she poses to the public should they be released, and their conduct whilst in prison needs to be taken into account also. I don’t see how anyone could be pleased to know that a man like CB is soon to be released back into the community, unless the safety of the female public is of less importance to them than the vindictive glee they will no doubt feel if and when it happens .  Nor do I understand why anyone should think his release is only bad news for “McCannolytes” (that’s a new insult I haven’t encountered before).  I think it’s bad news for anyone with wives, mothers, sisters and daughters that happen to come into contact with CB once he is released.

Burns, doesn't it. Your last hope, the man who HCW proclaimed he'd got his man in the search for this 'abductor' over 4 years ago.
The hope went overnight, didn't it, so it's no surprise you're salty.
The judge did her job and called the 'evidence' what it was; hobo hearsay and the ramblings of the mentally incapable. It should never have set foot in a court room, but I will guarantee that HCW's paymasters had absolutely no choice but to press ahead, despite not having a case, as HCW painted everyone in to a corner.

Your problem now is, HCW has driven a cart and horses through any chance of charging CB with anything ever.

It's difficult for you all to accept, and I can see why loads of you have left the forum, I get it. But the CB aspect of this saga is now finally over. Back to square one looking for the phantom abductor.

I doubt that's going to happen as no police force will be interested in continuing.
PJ and OG have only been going through the motions anyway, and with CB out of the picture, the Germans have no interest or jurisdiction.

No trial actually suits everyone in that CB is forever cast as culprit anyway and and OG will certainly give a huge sigh of relief in that they've met their main objective without really trying too hard.

The rapes against the two unidentified women was never going to fly because the only evidence was Busching & Seeythurths testimony. Hazel B I thought was a possibility because I was lead to believe their was a partial fingerprint recovered, although apparently there was not, also FF successful argued that Brueckner is right handed & her assailant left handed. She only saw his blue eyes & couldn't ID him any other way. Not proof beyond a a reasonable doubt there. The exposures on the beach & playground seemed likely to me but alas they were not.

IMO anyone who seriously believes that CB being cleared of a rape charge and a handful of child abuse charges means that the police will have to go back to square one on the McCann case must have rocks where their brains should be.

True. They must all of have asked 'where do we go from here, is it down to the lake I fear, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I?'
HCW has made perhaps the biggest legal faux pas in Germany since Nuremberg. What a mess. Yes, there's an appeal, but I doubt they'll even get a look in after the total annihilation HCW suffered last time. Risk another humiliation in front of the entire world again? No chance.
And all for what? Leverage to cast CB as the villain - get the child abuse stuff to stick to bolster a non-existent case of abduction and murder.
Well that fiasco is behind us and we can start concentrating on where the blame lies. I'd start by referencing the DNA match and go back from there; a new investigation with fresh eyes.

Isn't going to happen. OG won't want to admit they've wasted a dozen years and more on a red herring and who else would be interested in taking it on ?

No, Madeleine's disappearance is doomed to join the list of unsolved cold cases, periodically dragged out for a review that leads nowhere.

You could be right there, arse covering all round will be going on.
The only hope is for someone to blab, which will only happen when pressure is exerted in the right spot at the right time.
I don't think our special detective with a video of Kate and Gerry on a hillside is going to cut it, quite frankly.

This is quite likely sadly.  One thing that is not going to solve this case is re-testing the DNA in the apartment and hire car in the vain hope that it can be proven to have belonged to Madeleine.  Even if this was proven beyond any shadow of a doubt, all it proves is that her DNA got into the apartment (not surprising as she was in it for a week) and into the back of the hire car (cross contamination on clothing and other personal effects would hardly be surprising either and a valid explanation).  It would certainly not prove she had died in the apartment or that her body was stuffed in the back of the car 23 days later.  In fact I'd love to know how those who believe the dog correctly alerted to cadaver but who also believe Madeleine was dumped in a bin on the night of the 3rd and taken off to the local tip rationalise the car alert.  Did any of them ever explain that one?  I'm sure there's a preposterous explanation they could come up for it.
