Ask the dogs, Maureen.
Well someone's lying or one or both parties are mistaken, how about that?
Better.  I doubt either side was lying but perhaps the Germans weren’t robust enough in ensuring that the letters had arrived prior to making their announcement.  It was the tail end of the first lockdown so perhaps there was still a backlog, as a possible explanation.

Well perhaps they should appoint you as their special advisor, I’m sure they’d be grateful to be told by you what they should do with the fund money as you obviously have its best interests at heart.  In fact, why don’t you start a petition demanding they divest themselves of the fund just so you can sleep easier at night knowing that it’s out of their evil clutches?
At which point would they dissolve the company? Or perhaps they would just keep it going, gambling on the stock market with Auntie Dorothy's last £20 she donated a few years back, when she answered the desperate plea to help find wee Maddie. But gambling for what? To help all those other similar charities? Do you perceive the pension pot and the ISA you hold as gambling?  Not as wisely managed investments?  Perhaps the McCanns should withdraw all the money and stick it in a hole in the garden.
The fund’s primary aim is to Find Madeleine.  As she hasn’t yet been found or her fate discovered it will remain in place to be spent to that end if that is what the directors decide.  If they decide there is no further action to be taken after the investigation ends then no doubt they will distribute the funds to deserving causes as they see fit.  And if you think that means diverting into a private swimming pool complex well that is your right to believe it as a sceptic, however the chances of the McCanns being able to syphon off the fund for their own use are very small with the scrutiny of the media an ever present threat.  And - Auntie Dorothy needs to get over her act of supreme generosity 17 years ago and quit mithering about it but if she really is that bothered perhaps she should ask for a refund.

Auntie Dotty died. Donated her last £20 from her Winter Fuel Payment and subsequently froze to death in the terrible unending winter of 2012.
And I think you may be confusing perosnal investments with publically funded investments. It's great while you're winning, which they undoubtedly are, but 'public perception' may turn if there's a crash. Only this week Nvidia lost $500 billion when the sneaky Chinese cut their legs off at the knees with a vasty superior, free AI platform. Nobody saw that coming.
But I digress. You're right, casually frittering away the fund is not possible, but I think they're playing the long game, gamble the fund to a point where they can invest in the Sudanese Space Program and then escape with the loot to Mars or Venus and start a new life in one of the subterranean colonies, away from prying eyes.

Want me to exhume another thread? I'm bored of this one now.

Don’t you think that other families or charities could benefit?

The Find Madeleine Website continues to state that "There is absolutely nothing to suggest that Madeleine has been harmed". This is demonstrably false. The three expert investigative forces are conducting a very serious & costly investigation & have firm evidence that, if we knew what it was "we would be in no doubt" that Madeleine was murdered by Christian Brueckner. At this point the website authors are requesting donations under false pretence. At least, that's how it appears to me.

But at the moment they are not looking are they ....

The money is tied up in stocks and shares..obviously not been spent on anything.

Do these directors get a wage...I remember gmc brother John gave up a well paid job to go on the board

One of seven directors of the Find Madeleine Fund, Gerry McCann's brother has taken indefinite leave of absence from his job as a medical rep for the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in order to administrate the £1m fund from his Glasgow sitting room.

Must of been a large salary that to give up

Because the case hasn’t been solved and a perpetrator brought to justice yet.  Why do you think they haven’t fully embraced the German investigation and taken every opportunity to express support for the idea that CB is responsible for?

Wouldn't you think the mcs at least would want to know the evidence HCW had that Maddie was dead.

After all by there logic then ...no one would be looking for Maddie.

Seems they are taking a different approach there...... than they did with GA when he said it.

Sure, like I say write and tell them they must share the loot around without further delay or you’ll get very cross indeed.

What a load of baloney from start to finish.   This is currently a live police investigation so the McCanns are not in a position to start interfering with it.  And no, the directors do not get paid a salary.
“The majority of the fund money has been and continues to be spent on investigative work to help find Madeleine. Additionally money continues to be spent on the wider 'Awareness Campaign' – reminding people that Madeleine is still missing and to remain vigilant. None of the directors have taken any money from the fund as remuneration”.

Perhaps you should alert the authorities if you believe a crime has been committed?

Can any of us come up with a plausible explanation for this (your second question)?

Perhaps I should. Because it certainly does appear that a crime is being committed, if the three expert investigative forces are to be believed, that is.
