Did you read what I wrote?  If they have strong grounds for suspicion which would indeed constitute having some evidence.  Seriously, how do you imagine any cases are solved when suspects exercise their right to silence? if it’s really stupid to pay a visit to all the local paedos when a child mysteriously vanishes in the night why do you think the PJ did it (allegedly)?  Is it because they are really stupid?

There were no 'strong grounds for suspicion' against Christian Brueckner as of May 2007. As it happens the grounds for suspicion against him aren't much greater than they were 18 years ago. Hence the reason he won't be getting charged, any time in the foreseeable future.

What reason is there to clear him?  Everyone is a suspect remember?

The fact that there wasn't any abduction.

That’s not a fact.

There are strong grounds for suspicion against Bruckner- you can’t now be made an arguido without them.  If the police had done their jobs properly in May 2007 these strong grounds for suspicion would have been discovered then.

It's not the PJ's fault that Busching kept his mouth shut for the best part of a decade.

We're back to 'the police didn't do their job properly'

It's May 3rd 2007. Madeleine has just been reported missing. What good reason is there to suspect Christian Brueckner?

How do you Know?
Because you cannot know it for a fact. It’s your opinion.  It has not been proven.  It’s as dumb as me saying I know the earth is flat.

It is the PJs fault that they did not rigorously investigate the rape of Diane Menkes, establishing who lived nearby and who passed her house every day, someone who had a history of sex crimes (which were known to the Portuguese judicial system) and whose DNA was found in her bed.  It is the PJ’s fault for not rigorously investigating CCTV footage in PdL which might have revealed exactly who was where that night and for not following up on countless leads just one of which may have solved the mystery in 2007.

It may not be a fact in law, but what if the McCanns actually did It?

The DM rape is entirely unrelated to Madeleine’s disappearance. That is fact.

Jane Tanner told the police she saw the abductor. Her description of the man is nothing like Brueckner. There is a sighting of Gerry though, so it's more likely it was him.

He’s one of a number of paedophiles living in the area, someone with a criminal past who makes a living by among other things breaking into holiday apartments.  Further investigation into him at the time would have revealed his phone placed him in or near the centre of PdL on the evening of the disappearance.  His mugshot could have been shown to the number of eyewitnesses who claim they saw suspicious activity around thr apartment in the days preceding the disappearance.  Madeleine’s bedding could have been sent for DNA analysis and could have provided evidence that he had taken her from her bed.  Many missed opportunities.
