Whilst on the topic of checking, would anyone on this forum care to make a stab at when Mathew Oldfield that olympic standard checker of other peoples children was to check again on his own... this is based on the timelines provided by the group.

Can Shona please respond to the last post.

Really, Admin? Do I honestly have to try and persuade gilet that I'm not a "child abuser"? I doubt if that's possible, whatever I say. I've already written that I am sorry for and angry with the McCanns in equal measure. I don't think that they harmed Madeleine, but I don't understand why they spent so little time with their children during the holiday, and why they left them alone in an apartment, at night, out of earshot, in a foreign country. That's my opinion, and I'm sure that gilet will have an absolute party picking it to pieces, that is what gilet does, but it will make absolutely no difference to me. Or to the McCanns. Or to Madeleine.

Not having followed this particular thread and just looking at Shona's post in isolation

I do agree with what they write: palming off the kids to 'paid for entertainments' by strangers - does jar.

But it was their choice and they did not break any laws, PT laws or other laws.

That's what we should be mindful of at all times - Gerry&Kate have not been convicted of criminal doings either in PT or the UK.

That's the standard- all else is fluff and speculation

They know they did wrong in small measure and have accepted it.  They did not however invite some crimial deviant to enter their private apartment and abduct their sleeping daughter.

But some will say that their failure to lock the patio doors brought this disaster down upon themselves?  I should add that it was highly unlikely that the intruder used that route in any event as it was seen from the area around the tapas bar.  More likely that they entered by the front door directly from the street using a key since this happened on a previous occasion in the flat immediately above the McCanns.

No one ever invites this but most people take precautions to avoid it and leaving three babies for hours without checking them in an insecured flat, is irresponsible for this and any other dangerous factor, many of which face babies all the time

where did you get 15  mins from? Gerry said it was not 15 mins but 30 when challenged by a repirter, but then two years later he said he never once looked in when he checked apaet from that night, coa tye door was more open, so he never ever checked physically for four nights in a row and they could  havebeen dead for all he knew in between his 'checks'

There seems to have been a gap between 9.15pm and 10pm though so I wonder what happened there?

Although Jane did pass the apartment on her way to relieve her partner at about 9.45pm.

Didn't Jane make a comment on the CH4 reconstruction to the effect that Kate was concerned at to why Gerry was taking so much time with his check?  (chatting with Jez)

Gerry wasn't nigh too pleased about that remark.

That is not correct John,  the McCanns claim they checked the children every half hour, although Kate says in her book there was one occassion when they went inside for a cocktail after dinner one  night , leading to  a 45 minute gap between checks

Then there is Mrs Fenn, of course,  who heard crying from the McCann apartment for an hour and a quarter

We really only have the McCann's word to go on with regard to their checking regime
