I wonder if this "elderly grandmother" who made the gun threat  would have dismissed a similar threat against one of her family as "an unfortunate joke", or a "comment made in jest"?

I am not defending the comment, it was pretty stupid thing to throw out there as it could be misconstrued if it was a joke about a starting gun at a race.  This is evidenced by the Daily Star headline yesterday or today, Maddie death threat, fear for twins. Totally exagerrated. The person who made the comment issued an apology I have read and meant nothing sinister with it. As I said before, the police did not take it seriously, that should be the benchmark. And not rag headlines. Those are my thoughts on the matter and last comment on this issue.

Actually, she said that her family were really worried that she might be targetted by us lot because she took a taxi from Cornwall to London to support Mr. Bennet in his hour of need. And that was before The Gun Threat.
And if that's not mad then I don't know what is.

Only reason she issued the apology was because it wended up in the papers, had it not then she would have carried on and on and on.
