Unfortunately it shows a very basic misunderstanding of the layout

Not everyone will be familiar with the layout.

I'm assuming,  since the McCann's apartment was on the end, that all the others had to pass the McCann children's bedroom window on their way to and from their own apartments  ...  is that correct ?

The McCanns claim that Jane Tanner saw the abductor make off with Madeleine at 9.15pm  ...  so at that time the shutters on their children's bedroom was already fully raised, and the window wide open

Subsequently,  one or other of the McCann's friends passed that open window 7 times  ...  7 times !

How can it be that none of them noticed it ?

If you look at the 2nd 3rd and 4th  photos on this page it shows how one would probably not notice unless they actually looked

http://themaddiecasefiles.com/topic179-10.html

for once I agree with you, and those photos are in daytime - not in the dark of night.

If this is a serious question, there are quite a few photos on the subject. Many are hosted on Pamalam's site. Beware of photos taken post-disappearance as the lighting was improved afterwards.

It was a serious question

I genuinly thought the abductor had come straight out of the McCanns apartment and immediately  crossed that road where Jane Tanner saw him

I had no idea he had to walk back down the path past the other apartments, and around a car park  before crossing that road

I'll take your advice and go look at the detailed maps,  thanks

your opening post/question had nothing to do with an abductor.

It's very strange that you were an expert on this - " open window 7 times  ...  7 times !", but not on the actual layout?

Unfortunately it shows a very basic misunderstanding of the layout

Not everyone will be familiar with the layout.

they should be by now

(especially when they can come up with 7 passings)

There  were 7 passings after 9.15pm

Jane Tanner passed on her way to check on her children,  and then passed again on her way back ( 9.15pm )

Oldfied passed twice ,  on his way to,  and then back after checking on his kids  ( 9.30pm )

O'Brien passed on his way to check his children  (  he stayed because his child was ill )

Jane Tanner passed again when she went to relieve O'Brien

O'brien passed on his return to thye restaurant

So seven times people passed that open window  ...  although I accept that unless they were looking  at the apartments, across the car park,   as they passed they would not have noticed it

Now I realise it,  I am astonished that the abductor didn't have a get away car waiting in the very car park he walked around

(  just to mention,  I have not followed this case devotedly,  so there is much that I do not know about it  )

you counted and noted the passings, but failed to look at the layout.

Then you raised doubt about the credibility of the Mccann group.

Yes I do,  thank you

I am no  'expert'  on this case,  and I don't post here in order to  'defend'  or 'attack'  ...  I post and ask questions  so that I can better understand

The bedroom window can be seen clearly as you walk across the car park and as we are lead to believe there was a table lamp on in the lounge area and the bedroom door and shutters were open then the light from that would have illuminated the window enough to draw your eye to it.

what a fascinating observation - who led you to believe there was a lit lamp?

Oh no - I shouldn't have asked that!

It's in one of Kate or Gerry's statements.

If you don't mind me suggesting then - don't bias your questions in a negative manner.

for example

"Should someone have noticed the open window?" in my opinion would have been neutral.

I have been there and with a table lamp illuminating the window your eye would certainly have been drawn to it in the darkness.

BTW don't you think it's a tad convenient that the only time one of the McCann's friends actually went into the apartment was the very time that if he had listened at the window as usual he would have found the window open ? Why the change of behaviour on that night in particular ?
