Could the cadaver scent have been planted?

Just to point out that there is no evidence that the cadaverine contaminant was not planted so therefore this is a valid theory.

Is there any suggestion the McCanns themselves make any such allegation?

yea, they soaked  a handkerchief with a dead persons scent from the morgue, and took it to 5a and dabbed it in all the places the dog alerted  to, then they somehow broke into the mccanns villa and smeared it onto kate mccanns and her kids clothes and the cuddly toy as well

that's how easy it would have been.
of course the PJ would not seek to act illegally.... far too honest

Interesting point dave, but I just can't see it myself - and we don't even know if it WAS cadaverine that was alerted to.

ok lets go back to basics

- it was the British police who suggested bringing these dogs in
- PT police had never heard of such dogs
- if PT police believed their theory correct and trusted the British intelligence
- do you think they would go smear dead peoples scent all over the mccanns apartment just in case these dogs did not find it?
 @)(++(*
- why did they not smear apt 4g, the second mccanns apartment? Or gerrys clothes?

Sorry, but its a silly theory IMO

I don't believe anything was planted, because Grime wouldn't have had to work as hard as he did to get the reactions out of the dog he got.

And some of the alerts are corroborated (Gerry's blood on the key fob as the source of Eddie's reaction to the car, for example.

Remember, too, that everything sent to the FSS was reacted to by Keela who reacts, alone, to blood.

So everything should have had a component of blood, which both dogs react to ...

Yes, there's Mr McCann allegation reported in the Larry King show by Mr Smart the very day Mr McCann told him his suspicion on the phone. Mr McCann never denied it.

But he hasn't made the allegation himself publicly?

Wrong !  Mr Grime stated precisely that Eddie didn't react to cadaverin, simply because the dog hadn't been trained with that synthetic molecule. If someone planted, perhaps an acte manqué of Mr McCann wishing to be caught after all, only at the morgue or in the cemetery.

Lyall, As with the smashed broken forced and jemmied windows, gerry never made any allegation of planted evidence, but his friends and family did

Ed smart
Jon Corner
Susan Healy
Brian Healy
John Mccann

Off  the top of my head, all on video, there may have been others

Though I think they were talking about DNA and not cadaver scent, still, makes you wonder where the police could get Madeleines DnA to PLANT IT

None of them really knew what they were talking about anyway

No, Mr McCann is very careful, he always prefers leaving others say publicly the "dangerous" things he says privately, like the broken shutters..
In the Larry King talk show, on the very day Mr McCann was made an arguido (his reputation was at stake), the "planting" was presented as Mr McCann's fear. Millions of persons heard this.  If he had been misunderstood by Mr Smart, he would have denied publicly.
Mr McCann likely told his suspicion to his father in law who shared his doubt about planting with a journalist on the same day.

Yes, Mr Healy spoke of planted DNA. Poor old man, he had to grip some explanation, I felt sorry for him.
