On 23 January, Hopkinton Police located Entwistle at the home of his parents, Clifford and Yvonne Entwistle, in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England. Entwistle told them that he left his Hopkinton, Massachusetts, home at around 9:00 AM EST three days previously to run an errand and that his wife and daughter were both alive and well and in the bed in the couple's master bedroom. When he returned at around 11:00 AM EST, he claimed to have found both had been shot dead. He then covered the bodies of his wife and infant daughter with a blanket. He did not alert authorities.

Entwistle told the police that he was so distraught upon seeing the corpses of his wife and daughter that he decided to kill himself. However, because he was unable to bring himself to end his life with a knife, he drove the family car to his father-in-law Joseph Materazzo's house to get a .22 calibre handgun. Finding the house locked, he told police that he then decided to fly home to England to see his parents.

Is he for real Joanne?

He was so distraught he bought a BA ticket for a flight to the UK!  Now that's just plain bullshit.

Entwistle's speedy departure from the scene of the deaths of his family was not the only reason authorities questioned his version of the events. Entwistle's DNA was found on the handle of the same .22 handgun owned by his father-in-law that he told authorities he'd only used the weapon once months earlier while practising at his father-in-law's shooting club. DNA matching that of his wife Rachel was found on the gun's muzzle. A set of keys to Materazzo's house were found in the car Entwistle left at Boston's Logan Airport.

A search of Entwistle's computer revealed that days before the murders, Entwistle looked at a website that described "how to kill people" and searched for escort services. Contrary to outward appearances, Entwistle had been unemployed since September 2005 and was essentially penniless at the time of the killings. Authorities suspected a financial motivation for the killings.

I would say guilty without any doubt and I would also say that he has mental health issues.

Yes I agree,
This man was a real heartless creep. A mummy's boy that was used to things going his way, when they didn't he showed his true colours. Men, by nature, are programmed to provide for and protect their loved ones. Not for this waste of oxygen. I hope the gutless coward has an eternity to reflect on the lives he brutally ended.

Thanks for the links, Joanne. I know about this case, Entwhistle is one strange person! The youtube video is called The Man Who Didn't Cry. Well, no, he did not cry, in fact he laughed. Look at around 1:47 in the video.
I have no doubt he murdered his wife and daughter. Possibly he did not intend to murder his daughter.

The guy is as nutty as a fruitloaf.  What's the first thing he does on discovering his wife and baby daughters body???   He buys a ticket back to England on the first flight.

We know that this is untrue because he left the murder weapon back where he got it before he made his escape.  If there ever was a valid argument for extradition to the USA and the death penalty then Entwhistle is it.   They should fry this s..mbag.   8@??)(

A reminder that you can still watch the Neil Entwhistle case on Sky Ch 554 starting now.

This has all the hallmarks of the Jeremy Bamber case so is well worth viewing.

Neil Entwhistle (Left) enters court accompanied by his two attorneys.

Entwhistle was another killer who dreamed of living the high life.  He existed in a similar fantasy world to Jeremy Bamber.  When he moved the family back to the US he lied about his job and finances and kept up the pretence that he was still employed by his former UK bosses.  He told his wife and in laws that he was paid through an offshore fund when we know that he was almost broke.

Just a week before the murder of his wife and baby daughter they moved from his in laws house to a rented property costing over $3,000 a month.  I wonder what surety he used to achieve that rental?  I also wonder was this part of his master plan to create a situation where he would be alone with them in the property?

Neil Entwhistle shot his wife through the top of her head with a 22 calibre handgun taken from his father in laws home.  He also shot his baby daughter who was wrapped in her mothers arms at the time.  The bullet went through the baby and entered his wife's body.  It initially appeared that this was the one and only bullet wound but it was later discovered at autopsy that the mother had in fact been shot in the head.  A shot which she could not have inflicted upon herself due to the entry angle of the bullet.

This is a raw footage video which was taken in the court room as a video was being shown showing how Rachel and Lillian met their deaths.  Neil Entwhistle sits alongside defence attorney Stephanie Page.

Can anyone explain what is happening here?

During his trial Entwhistle was shown the crime scene of the murder. The photos showed the bed where Rachel Entwistle, 27, and 9-month-old Lillian Rose were found shot to death on Jan. 22, 2006 although the bodies were covered with a duvet. Having learned what I had about the cognitive dissonance that we feel when watching someone say something and react differently with body language and so I decided after watching the video that I had a distinct feeling of “uneasiness”. The same feeling I had felt when Oliver had cried crocodile tearson telling his cancer story.

I decided to contact Steven Van Aperen for an explanation and asked if he would comment on the video and his response was:

“One of the first things that concerned me about this tape was the fact that he was crying without any visible tears being apparent. Crocodile tears would be an apt description relating to this performance. In relation to his facial expressions I did not see anything remotely indicating grief, sorrow or sadness. Professor Paul Eckman, who compiled the Facial Action Coding System, found through his research that when we try to conceal an emotion it will often manifest itself as a facial expression within a micro second (approx. 1/25th of a second). I have dealt with many victims who have experienced emotional pain during traumatic periods in their life and the pain is often etched across their face. This didn't appear to be the case with Entwistle. In fact his hand movements covering his face whilst viewing the tape would suggest concealing and or blocking behaviours to cover his unconvincing acting.

No tears, so he didn't need a tissue either.
It's one of them cases, in'it... one of them f*ckin' cases.
