Mr Mike Bynum hired the attorneys, it was seen by many as another indication of the parents' guilt.
Alarmed by the mounting criticism, Bynum and members of the family urged the Ramseys to go on television and defend themselves.
The following day they appeared on CNN. This was a great move.

After they left the home, they new they would never enter the house again as there home.
This is what was said.
Patsy answered in a tearful voice:
"There is a killer on the loose, I don't know who it is, I don't know if it's a he or a she — but if I were a resident of Boulder I would tell my friends to keep their babies close to you."

How quick did they help?

"The Ramseys were interviewed on the 26th, the Ramseys were interviewed on the 27th.
On the 27th they give samples of physical evidence, blood, hair and fingerprints.
When they returned from Atlanta, the Ramseys gave five handwriting samples, voluntarily.
To say that the Ramseys had not cooperated in this investigation is a gross mischaracterization."

Overview:

JonBenet was found wrapped in a blanket and lying in the middle of the basement floor. She had duct tape across her mouth. She lay with her arms above her head and a white cord was wrapped tightly around her neck. The same cord was tied loosely to her wrists. The broken handle of a paintbrush, measuring approximately 4.5 inches in length, had been looped into the cord to form a garrote. At the time of her death, JonBenet was wearing a sweatshirt over a long sleeve shirt. The lower half of her body was clad in white pajama bottoms over white panties.

Garrote

There was a thin gold ring on the middle finger of her right hand, and a bracelet with her name engraved on one side and the date "12/25/96" on her left wrist. A red heart was drawn on the palm of her left hand. Around her neck was a gold chain with a single gold cross attached. The evidence suggests that either someone took the girl from her bedroom by force, or lured her to the kitchen with the promise of food, which would explain the undigested remnants of pineapple found in her stomach at the time of her death. She was then taken to the basement, had tape placed over her mouth, and was bound with the nylon cord. She was then sexually assaulted, after which she was strangled with the garrote and bashed about the head.

The Killer knew the family, but may have lived far away from Boulder because he printed the ramson note, thinking no one will match it up to him.

Wine Cellar:

Pieces of debris from the window well were found in the wine cellar where JonBenet's body was discovered.

Information:

Foam peanuts, also known as packing peanuts or packing noodles, are a common loose-fill packaging and cushioning material used to prevent damage to fragile objects during shipping.
They are shaped to interlock when compressed and free flow when not compressed.
They are roughly the size and shape of a peanut (in its shell) and usually made of expanded polystyrene foam.

Frost line depth = 32 inches

Winter Design Temp = 2 degrees Fahrenheit

Ground Snow Load = thirty pounds per square foot with a minimum Roof Snow Load of 30 pounds per square foot

It is a function both of temperature (related in a general sense to elevation but not strictly) and snow cover. Where snow accumulates deeply, little frost penetration occurs. Here in Fort Collins where we measure soil temperatures, there was one winter back around 1930 with extreme persisting cold and very little snow when frost penetrated to more than 30 inches. In most years, the max frost penetration on level, non-shaded ground is only 10-14" (much more in shaded). The greatest penetration in the past 20 years has been 18" at our site. We have had many mild winters recently, and we've had some with only a few inches (3-8") penetration. The ground is most likely frozen from just after Thanksgiving until sometime in early March at our station. This year, the ground remained unfrozen all January except in the top 2 inches at night and in the morning.

In the dust on the floor in the wine cellar, had a impression that looks like a small carabiner. Many rock climers use this type of tools. The dust tested as salts from the damp concrete floor.

Cellar Room:

There was a light switch located 24" up off the floor next to the door frame on the left side.
Most people will not fine this switch easily unless they are told of the switch location.
There was a 120 Volt outlet on the West wall suppling power to the room.
The room size is app. 10 ft X 12 ft made of concrete construction.
Above the ceiling was the sun room.
This room is located on the house South East side where the light was reported turn off that night.
The wine cellar was design with no steam heat.
The door was made of wood with a weather strip at the bottom.
A door catch was install at the top, and it would have to be turn to open the door.
This room is located just outside the main building structure.

Duck Tape:

Where is it used?

painter’s tape treated with new Technology. This type is a super-absorbent polymer which reacts with latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, preventing paint bleed.

Could be found on the backs of painting in the home. Arts and Crafts may use this type.

The family did paint, and they had lots of art work. It was noted that the tape was off a use row or (taken from the back of painting found in the basement).

Cord:

1997 - Investigators are almost certain the nylon cord used to strangle JonBenét Ramsey came from a Boulder surplus store.

Cord type: Stansport white nylon utility cord.

How it is used: The 1/4-inch-wide Stansport cord - which comes packaged in lengths of 50 and 100 feet and often is used for camping or outdoor activities.
