Cold Case:

 It’s been 18 years since JonBenet was found dead in the basement of her family’s Boulder, Colo., home the day after Christmas. That morning, the Ramsey family found a horrifying ransom note, threatening to kill JonBenet if they didn’t pay $118,000. That was the near exact amount Ramsey had recently received as a bonus, leading him to believe his daughter’s killing was an inside job on some level.

JBI's Electrostatic Dust Print Lifter

 Information:

 One of the most overlooked forms of physical evidence at the crime scene is impression evidence. Locating and recovering obvious kinds of impression evidence like tire tracks and
 footprints is not the problem. It’s the not-so-obvious dust print impressions that are difficult to locate, accidentally damaged or obliterated. The Electrostatic Dust Print Lifter is designed specifically for lifting these dust prints from almost any surface from the floor, door, wall or windowsill to upholstered furniture using static electricity. High voltage is applied to a metallized lifting mat creating a negative charge and causing the ground plane to become positively charged. Any dust present under the mat will take on a positive charge, attracting it to the negatively charged mat. The resulting dust print lifted will be a precise
 mirrored image of the original print.

Fibers and Threads:

 Clothing, rugs, blankets, curtains and other fabrics are such common articles in modern society that their value as evidence may be overlooked. Although very common, a tremendous variety of animal, vegetable and synthetic fibers of numerous colors are used. Thus threads and individual fibers will frequently serve as useful evidence in criminal cases.

 Fibers found point to a intruder in the Ramsey's case.

Responsibility:

 It is the duty of the investigating officer to leave no stone unturned in utilizing every scrap of physical evidence that can be located. It is fully as importance as any amount of interrogation of witnesses or other persons. Only by full utilization of physical evidence will the proportion of solved crimes be greatly increased over the days when only animate witnesses could be examined.

 The JonBenet Ramsey investigation was one sided, because of those actions, this case is listed as a cold case today.

What Does S.B.T.C. Stand For ?

 At the autopsy, the discovery of the pineapple in the upper digestive tract sparked a recollection by a detective back to the crime scene.
 A bowl of pineapple on the breakfast table (which was collected and refrigerated as evidence).
 Much much later we were able to have the scientists make the determination that the pineapple in the bowl was fresh pineapple (as opposed to canned), and was compared to the pineapple in the victim, consistent right down to the rind in both cases as fresh pineapple.

 From the autopsy -

 "The proximal portion of the small intestine contains fragmented pieces of yellow to light green-tan apparent vegetable or fruit material which may represent fragments of pineapple."

 There is a great debate about when JBR ate that pineapple.

 It seems it came from a bowl of pineapple found on the table in the Ramsey breakfast room. Patsy and Burke had left their prints on the bowl. Burke's prints were on the glass. JBR's prints were not found there.

 S. = Spoon
 B. = Bowl
 T. = Tea
 C. = Cup

 On the table was a spoon in a bowl and a tea bag in a cup. Was this a clue left by the killer? Large silver spoon will tarnish when used with pineapple. Hot tea is not drank with a drinking cup.

Stone Retaining Walls On 15th Street

 Baseline View of Alleyway

 The view of this alleyway is from Baseline Rd.
 This road is South of the Ramsey house by 365 feet. From this view, the Ramsey house is on the right side of the 15 feet wide alleyway. The alleyway connect each property to their parking spaces and drive ways. The one lane alleyway allows for two way traffic. The alleyway is line with wood fences and trees making this a dark street because there are no street lights installed. The grade is higher at Baseline Rd. than at the other end at Cascade Ave by 36 feet and is 610 feet long. 15th street has a grade rise of 23/32” per foot to the South. Retaining walls are structures designed to restrain soil to unnatural slopes. They are used to bound soils between two different elevations often in areas of terrain possessing undesirable slopes or in areas where the landscape needs to be shaped severely and engineered for more specific purposes like hillside farming or roadway overpasses. The West side of 15th street has a higher grade than the East side of the street. The Ramsey side of the street is line with many property owner installed retaining walls located inside of the side walk property lines. This would make it harder to cut through to the back alleyway from 15th street for a walker on foot. The only place that does not have this retaining wall and a near level path to the alley way is 755 15th street or the Ramsey property. The North side of the property line would make a good cut through path and this side of the house would be hidden from view from any one in side the house looking out. Any one using this cut through path would walk close by the Butler Kitchen door that was found open on the 26th.

The killer left dust prints but the local police did not know what they did not know.
Our new tool

 The Sirchie Electrostatic Dust Print Lifter consists of a high voltage power supply/control unit, a nickel-plated steel ground plane and a metalized lifting medium. Older electrostatic models required the use of two lifting mats - one positively charged and one negatively charged. Sirchie's latest electrostatic lifter uses only one metalized plastic sheet and a metal ground plane. As high voltage is applied to the lifting mat, it takes on a negative charge and the ground plane becomes positive. Any dust present under the mat will take on a positive charge and will then be attracted to the negatively charged collection mat.

 A dust print that is transferred to the lifting mat will appear as a precise mirror image of the original print and lifts made from rough-surfaced floor tile or irregular flooring of any kind are facilitated using this method.

We use many types of ALS lights. This one work well at the crime scene.

Our new light:

 The FAL3000 is a complete kit including all of the equipment needed for an intense, thorough search for evidence at the crime scene or in the laboratory. Physical evidence is a crucial part of any criminal investigation and the FAL3000 Forensic Alternative Light Source simplifies locating items of forensic interest. This compact, self-contained light source offers unlimited freedom to move about the crime scene. The instrument may be hand-held in two different positions or mounted on a standard photographic-type tripod. Battery operation permits searching a multitude of surfaces, even when working in the tightest situations, and especially when searching for microparticle, physiological or latent print evidence.

 The FAL300’s high-intensity discharge Xenon lamp in conjunction with a series of six bandpass filters (365-530nm), provides all of the lights needed to identify many forms of physical evidence: semen, saliva, other materials with natural fluorescence, and fluorescent powders and dyes. High intensity white light is available for thoroughly scanning the crime scene. The filters are contained in two sliding filter arrays for quick selection of individual wavelengths and changeover from one array to the other. Detents are machined into each array providing positive positioning. Each filter is labeled for easy filter selection.

 The intense light source and low-loss filters simplify photography when the camera is equipped with the appropriate barrier filter.The FAL3000 kit is supplied with three 52mm barrier filters: Orange, Yellow and Red.

 The FAL300 gives superior high intensity performance, lasting up to 2 hours of constant use on one battery charge. The battery pack is easily charged, and can be left on the charger without any risk of overcharging. An optional AC conversion kit is available to use the FAL300 without the battery pack.
