After that there's no evidence of his exact whereabouts. Apart from the Smith sighting.

Ok my mistake Gerry told Matt to ring the second time not the first.  Sorry how could he have taken Madeleine to waste ground  when everyone seems to remember him being in 5a.  Gerry stayed at the table until Kate give the alarm he didn't leave the table to take Madeleine to waste ground.

He took an unusually long time on his 9pm check, according to Jane. Gerry goes into the apartment, then Madeleine disappears, so, he must have taken her out. He's the last person to see her, apart from the Smiths. It isn't difficult to join the dots really.

Only to some of us apparently, Faith. There are some people here who claim there's no logical or plausible theory of the Mccanns involvement. Until I explained it to them anyway. Now they've disappeared. Probably ran away to websleuths. Couldn't handle it anymore.

The sighting supports abduction by a stranger, who resembled Gerry & had drugged Maddie & changed her pyjamas, if we account for the details. Indeed, your heroes SY depicted Smithman's Maddie in the long sleeve pyjamas her mother wished she'd dressed her in.
