Cue the imaginary getaway vehicle with the imaginary getaway driver waiting directly outside the apartment, to avoid the imaginary abductor having had to have gone on foot past the Smiths at all. The imaginary abductor, getaway driver & vehicle, that nobody saw or heard at all & that there's absolutely no evidence of whatsoever.

Ok. So given that all the timings are estimates, how do you suppose the MET were able to ascertain with 100% certainty that Gerry was sat at the tapas table at the time of the Smith sighting?
By looking at the timelines relative to each other than piecing a logical timeline together from that information.

But they'd need a precise time to actually start from. And there aren't any.

He couldn't occult her earlier in the day. It was light. And he couldn't be away from the tapas table, his alibi, for too long, as other guests would notice. As it happens, Jane did notice. And you always use the word 'parade' even though Smithman lowered his head & signalled that he did not wish to speak. That is not parading. He didn't march down the street with a brass band behind him, shoving his dead daughter in the face of passers by.
According to you he hid her body away from the apartment at 9pm.  Why did he have to risk being caught hiding her a second time a few hundred yards away?  What was the material advantage in doing so?  And yes, parading is the right word - carrying a dead body bold as brass uncovered and right through the centre of the busiest part of the town.  If Smithman lowered his head to the point where he was hiding his face how come Mr Smith id?ed him as Gerry?  Absolute nonsense.

All guess work. The idea that Gerry was sat at the table at the time of the Smith sighting is complete guesswork. So, the MET were able to rule out the McCanns by just guessing. They looked at the statements & said, this time will do. That's good enough for us!  World's finest police force at work there.

How would anyone know the child was dead?

It wasn't the centre of the busiest part of town either. The main drag was arguably the entrance to the OC & where the nearby supermarket were. The Smiths encountered the man on more of a side street.

Gosh, you?ve been here all this time ready to pounce the second I make a post?  Yes there are, the time the table was booked for and the times they arrived at it, give or take a couple of minutes.   No one is suggesting it?s possible to draw up a precise timeline to the milisecond but it is possible to draw up a timeline which hangs together logically from the various statements, and having done so both the PJ and thr Met concluded Gerry could not have been Smithman as he could not be in two places at once.

So there were no cars in PdL that night and no possibility whatsoever that a car could have been parked in reasonably close proximity to the apartment?  Do you think the only possible escape route for a potential abductor is on foot through the centre of the town?

So just guessing, from after the time the booking was made. That's all they could do. They looked at the statements & cherry picked the evidence as they felt like it. That's what you were saying I did.

There's no evidence Maddie was dragged out of the window by paedos & bundled into a getaway car, VS. Instead, there's a sighting of Gerry. That's all there is. The only evidence of abduction released by the three expert investigative forces is the Smith sighting.

The person carrying the dead body would have known and would also have known that it was foolhardy in the extreme to allow himself to be seen carrying the child that he knew everyone in town would soon be looking for.

They were not guessing no, they were looking at the witness statements of everyone there that evening to work out the timeline.  How do you think any timeline is worked out?  Do you expect accuracy to the minute in all crime scene timelines?  You on the other hand ignore all the timelines bar one to make your theory fit.

No one other than Matt, David, Fiona & Russell knew that Madeleine had disappeared. Kate didn't run to the OC reception to report the abduction. Neither did Gerry. It took Fiona to send Matt some 10 minutes roughly after the alarm was raised. Gerry didn't rock up at reception until 10:40ish. And you didn't really answer the question. How would a passer by know that the child was dead? Check their pulse?

There is no sighting of Gerry.  There is a sighting of a man and a child, who many months later 2 of the 9 Smiths thought might have been Gerry, not because they recognised his face but because of the way he was holding the child, the same way any man would hold a sleeping child.  It?s hardly conclusive is it? Is it???  Do you really think this is proof it was Gerry?  That we can conclude it must have been him??  Absolute nonsense.
