Wasn't up to those who were saying he was following the correct procedure to show us the procedure?  I am asking them to show us that he was following the correct procedure. For it blatantly faulty as when you compare it with the UK process as there is no record of the actual foreign language (the actual statement). SiL is the one in Portugal who can access the correct PJ procedure and she is the one suggesting it followed the Portuguese law.

That request is not ridiculous.  It is standard practice to refer to a procedure.

Whats wrong with that
e.g.
"Which door did you normally use when leaving the apartment?
Which door did you use to leave the apartment?"  They are two different questions.  If you answered Q1 differently to Q2 you could be accused of lying.

Were those questions asked consecutively? No iirc

You do know dont you that police have the preogative and legal right to question as they seem fit within the rules
They even have the right to try and trip up "suspects"

Innocent people dont have to be worried abut such tactics , theyre there to cover all bases

Only one of the questions may have been asked but there is no record of which one.  How it was worded could totally alter the interpretation of the answer provided by a witness to said question and mislead the investigation team.

ooo

So i suppose depending on which way a question was asked it might lead to gerry mccann sayng he used his key to enter his flat at 9pm that night when he didnt actually do so according to him in a later statement, was just tricked into it?

You are making presumptions about guilt and innocence again Mercury.  You are very biased.

The idea that innocent people don't have to worry about police tactics designed to trip them up and extract potentially incriminating evidence really is quite laughable.  How many innocent people have been charged and tried for crimes they didn't commit over the years?

im saying translation is not an exact science and i find it very odd that statements by two people contain almost tehexact paragraph....im saying the signaure means nothing in a legal sense

Did anyone think it is?
kelirikko: even Google translate can't get that one right.
There are to all intents and purposes no technical terms in Arabic.
Technical German is a foreign language to most Germans.
"Vorpsrung durch technik" has several translations from "to leap ahead through engineering" to "the lump that appears on your thumb after you hit it with a Brummie screwdriver".
It could be that you are not the only one who finds/found it odd that two statements contain almost the same paragraph.

Can you access the PT procedures on interviewing foreigners?  Like should there be a copy of their statement in their own language?

Beyond doubt, there were honest officers in the PJ ranks ( Inspector Dias, emphatically and unreservedly one); also Carlos who, as a whole, demonstrated himself honest (even if he did have a wobbly bit in the middle) but this idea that you can tell outright lies to suspects in a bid to get them crack (as the PJ did) doesn't sit comfortably.
