Why not? They said they left the patio door unlocked and where were the keys? Gerry doesn't mention bringing keys to the restaurant in his arguido statement. On 4 May it was a different story.

"He does not remember if he had taken his mobile phone to the restaurant. He is under the impression that he did not take anything with him, except maybe his wallet." http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/GERRY-MCCANN-ARGUIDO.htm
Gerry doesn't mention taking his hanky either, but I bet he did.

A box of pills near the passports.
I agree it looks like a packet of pills.  The way the passports and the keys are in the same photo suggests IMO they were put there for photographic  purposes by the PJ and in fact do not go to demonstrate how the McCanns left them in the first place.

Let's see your evidence of a hanky or have you invented it? You won't find anything about the key in Madeleine book of truth.

There is a report from Control Risks, the first private detective agency which was brought to the case [by the McCanns] in the very first days, where they state, after speaking with Gerald McCann and other witnesses in that group [Tapas 9], that the key that Mr. Gerald McCann alleges to have used had in fact been left in the kitchen, in the kitchen’s counter. Right away, the lies started. (Gonçalo Amaral)
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

It's just my opinion but they look like prescribed medicine rather than over-the-counter.  Kate said there was Calpol, Nurofen and Losec. I know that Losec (Omeprozole) is usually a prescribed medicine. It can bee
bought over the counter but it's expensive.  Gerry mentions all the above plus Terfenadine, which was definitely a prescribed medicine.

So was the only evidence supplied by the McCanns? An open window and shutters seen by no-one except them and their assurance that they knew what their child was capable of and what she would or wouldn't do.

Kate McCanns told us how well she knew Madeleine when talking about her sleep habits;

However, in England Madeleine sometimes woke up during the night, around 2 ' 2:30 AM and went to her parents........Knowing that Madeleine sometimes woke and got up, she did not worry about leaving her alone, because when this happened, and it wasn't always, it was around 2 ' 3 AM at which time they would be back in the apartment.

When I realized Madeleine wasn’t actually there, I went through to our bedroom to see if she’d got into our bed. [madeleine]

Kate wasn't 100% sure she could predict Madeleine's behaviour then.

She did smirk and say' Madeleine would give her abductor her tuppence worth' aka be cheeky/challenging.

The Terfenadine is an antihistamine- this was May so more than likely used for hay fever . it can cause drowseyness added with Alcohol can cause unknown side effects in some people.

I can't seem to find Davels 'circumstantial evidence for stranger abduction' anywhere.

They look like prescribed drugs to adults- to children sweeties? Could Madeleine given them to the twins if they all woke up and taken them herself?  I wonder if this was looked at in detail and the pills were all accounted for.

Thanks for finding that, I knew I'd read something about the key left on the kitchen counter, but couldn't find it again.

Did Gerry actually state that, or is it one of Amaral's truth-elastic utterings? I checked through Gerry's statements and couldn't find it, so where did Amaral's info come from? One of the informal interviews?

In my opinion they look like a Boots own brand pack, with the blue logo, possibly even a box of plasters, but impossible to tell one way or the other.

I immediately thought that the photo looked staged:

In my opinion any mother finding her eldest child missing from her bed would have been terribly remiss not to have checked out all the possibilities.
Mind you in my opinion there are those who consider Kate damned if she did and damned if she didn't ... so you pays your money and you take your choice.

Yes ,Terribly remiss, however Kate claims she  'knew right away her daughter was abducted'- the window-shutter-curtains- why NOT call the police right away? Why do the supporters not get this?

Indeed, how much time was wasted?

  • Kate searched the house quickly
then left the room- to run and tell the others Maddie is missing- (she didn't scream that her daughter  had been ABDUCTED)
  • They all ran accout looking searching
why was Diane asked to stay put? more hands searching the better? Diane didn't know about MBM being abducted at that time because no lone told her... strange that.
