That's not how it works. The trick is to prove that the abduction did happen, not that it didn't.

if you can show the other two options are highly unlikely it makes abduction highly likely

I have seen discussion where the tourist operators kept incidences quiet as it would affect their business.  Had the McCanns been made aware that PdL was not as safe as they believed the whole matter may have been different.

Are you seriously trying to pamp me  off with a story that the 'alledgedly 'highly intelligent, professional doctors did not think it was unsafe to leave children alone. what!?

It is not the tourist operators job to tell parents how to look after their children fgs. Besides  GERRY said it was ok. so... well how do you argue with a man like that... oh it felt safe.. lies, lies, lies,  they did not consider safety at all because they took the decision to leave their children alone every night while they had dinner and drinks in peace BEFORE they left the UK.

There are many, many theories not just two or three.

Just because something might be possible doesn't mean it happened. I thought we were looking for evidence that an abduction took place, not speculating about how it might have been accomplished.
The evidence present will be very dependent on the way it happened.  If an abduction was possible using a key to enter the apartment and the  person locked the door behind him using the same key, what evidence would be left behind?
Then it seems vital that the bed linen would need to be forensically tested rather than laundered.

Well the initial assessment by the GNR and the PJ went towards showing that they thought an abduction didn't happen,  i.e. There was no sign of break in.  There was a lack of new unidentified fingerprints on the shutters and window, and the lack of signs of someone going through the window.

But Amaral's security expert, admitted it was possible to enter the building from the car park side if they had a key.

What would  it be  tested  for?  [edited for spelling]

Hair samples and DNA.  If and intruder got in and lifted Madeleine off her bed there could hair or DNA left behind.

If there's no evidence of something then it doesn't belong on a thread set up to discuss what evidence does exist.

The lack of evidence in other areas points to someone using a key.  If they used a key where would the required evidence be?  On the bed linen.  Where is the bed linen?  Laundered.  Who allowed the bed linen to be removed from the crime scene?

What's up, old man?

There wasn't a DNA database in Portugal in 2007, so what do you run these samples against?
It would be the presence of unmatched DNA or hair that would be the clue.  The sample and the profile would remain on record and if there was an abductor another sample taken in the future could link the perpetrator to the McCann case.  There are plenty of documented cases where historic samples  have been used to solve a crime.

But they didn't find any so there is no clue. There may never have been any so the supposition that there might have been  is worthless.

They didn't decide to do this because they thought it was unsafe.  They thought what they were planning was enough.  They would have thought twice if they were aware of the facts.  The facts as has been shown were kept quite by the tourist operators.  Are you disputing that?

True, but then that scenario of an intruder using a key to enter and leave can not be ruled out either.

Indeed, but without evidence the idea doesn't go anywhere - it remains an imagined option.

A real possibility is another way of describing it.
