Why do you have to take this so personal.

Its simply some love the mccanns - others don't.

Parents of a missing child shouldn't be slagged off for trying to find their child,  they did what they thought was best and what I would have done.

I really wish these McCann critics would explain whether or not Madeleine’s disappearance should have been made public or not, and if the answer is yes it should, then how would they limit that publicity to their satisfaction?

Madeleine's disappearance was made public as soon as the McCann's give the alert she was missing,   hundreds were out looking for her,  how public is that?     Any one of those searching could have phoned home to report what had happened.  The McCann's phoned home the friends phoned home.   It is ridiculous to say it should have been kept quiet,  all that would do is let the person get as far away as possible with Madeleine.

I am by nature an introvert, so I would undoubtedly have  ticked the 'no publicity' box.

The methodology used to date does not appear to have been a resounding success after 11 years so we know it has not worked thus far.
No other methodology has been attempted as far as one can tell so the efficacy of any untried methodology is unknown.

When children go missing in suspicious circumstances it is usual for their faces to be splashed across papers and news broadcasts for weeks or until they are found - Jamie Bulger, the Soham girls, Ben Needham, Milly Dowler, April Jones, Shannon Matthews, etc.  Would it have been better all round if there had been no publicity in any of these cases?
