It says alot when one of the more intellectual posts has been a comment on the size of a detective's bottom.
Back to serious discussion - is the book now be allowed to be marketed in the UK
(BTW I don't agree with everything in it)

Yes, on evidence which existed at the archive.  The prosecutors also stated that the McCanns had lost the opportunity to demostrate what they claimed happened.

It's never necessary to demonstrate innocence ...

It's all very well having a laugh but name calling will not be tolerated.

Back to reasoned debate please. TY

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

I sincerely hope so.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

are you serious...words fail me... how little you understand libel if you think a portuguese judgement allows the book to be sold in the UK

you need to remember portugal is still a fascist state...this latest judgement is just another example

A fascist state which highly values freedom of opinion and expression? That's a new one.

CONTROVERSIAL. In the book "Maddie: The Truth of the Lie", Gonçalo Amaral defends that the parents of British girl were involved in the case

Gonçalo Amaral passes the counterattack after the Lisbon Court of the relationship absolve the case against the McCanns. The judges judges consider that the former Inspector of Judicial Police does not have to pay 500,000 euros in damages and may re-sell in stores his book "Maddie: The Truth of the Lie" and a documentary issued by TVI, revoking the decision the Civil Court of Lisbon.

The ratio considers that Gonçalo Amaral has exercised his right to opinion, not being obliged to secrecy to be retired.

In the book, the author argues that Maddie's parents were involved in the disappearance and concealment of the child's corpse, removing the abduction theory.

A hallmark of a fascist state is one that supports the 'right' to accuse without foundation, which is precisely what Amaral's book does ...

Worse, it accuses in the face of foundation that directly confounds or contradicts the central tenets of the case.

How much more stark can it get than that the present (joint) enquiry holds out hope of finding Madeleine alive, when Amaral's book accuses the McCanns of direct involvement in Madeleine's death, knowing she is dead, covering up the 'fact' of her death and launching a fraudulent 'fund' in their (dead!) daughter's name.

Fascist and obscene (which is, of course, tautological, because everything fascist is, by definition, obscene) ...

You were quite happy with the last verdict and the one involving Cipriano.

Portugal is a DEMOCRACY.

a fascist state that allows a policeman to libel two innocent parents but when a journalist criticised a politician...he was I believe jailed...that sort of fascist state

Defamation and libel are criminal offenses under Articles 180 and 181 of the penal code, and penalties are
increased by one half if the offended party is a public official. In May 2013, journalist Miguel Sousa Tavares
was under investigation for a comment he made during an interview with Jornal de Negocios calling
President Aníbal Cavaco Silva a clown. He faces up to three years in prison if found guilty

This was posted two days ago, which all makes a double farce of the latest twist in the libel trial

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/madeleine-mccann-detective-we-still-hope-to-find-her-alive-a3227561.html

How can the present joint enquiry hold out hope of finding Madeleine alive; Amaral write a book accusing the McCanns of direct involvement in Madeleine's death (and covering up the alleged 'fact' of her death) and this judgement be anything other than a hallmark of facism?

Answers on a postcard ...

Like it or loathe it, a judgement which upholds the right to accuse and traduce in the face of all known facts is a fascist judgement, nothing more or less ...
