So a report by one Portuguese Criminal about another Portuguese Criminal?

Tavares De Almeida was found guilty in the Portuguese Courts of the torture of Virgilino Borges and given a suspended sentence, of IIRC two and a half years
Concalo Amaral was also found guilty in a Portuguese Court of Perjury in the Leonor Cipriano case.

Both men are officially criminals.

How much notice should we take about a report from one criminal about another?  Both of whom were CI's attached to the Madeleine case and mates.

Fine upstanding citizens are often quite bad at spotting criminals, hence we hear stories of people being relieved of their life savings by conmen.

Remember the old adage 'set a thief to catch a thief'. There is a school of thought which suggests that police and criminals are opposite sides of the same coin.

Amaral has left the Police Force he has nothing to do with the McCann case anymore,  the Portuguese Police are working along side SY.

Not according to sauces  8**8:/: It has been noticed and remarked upon how the Portugual Police are talking back and challenging the slurs which have been directed at them for a great many years. KARMA.

The PJ have got the uppr hand now because SY have come up with zilch after 'invetsigating' for many years and spemnding millions- we have food banks in the country-people are struggling to make ends meet and millions have been spent on empty gestures... It really is sickening.

It does appear to have been a case of "we can do much better than you" and failing.

IMO expect some high-rpm spinning this coming week to explain why there will be no appeal to the supreme court.

Yet again the Mail tells lies in the article.

It libels Amaral, saying he accused the mccanns of murdering Madeleine, which of course is a lie.

Perhaps his lawyers will be pursuing the Mail, among other newspapers.

Likewise, as regards Leveson, what price this article ?

and the comments section says everything.

This latest, perverse judgement, seems to rest on the fact none of the leaks from the shelved enquiry can be personally, and directly, attributable to Amaral ....

The judges went by Portuguese law.

It is utterly perverse that Portuguese law does not hold retired police officers accountable for keeping secret details of an investigation they were personally, and directly, involved in after retirement, especially when the archiving dispatch is just weeks old when the (distorted) version of events (according to the person who, briefly, coordinated it) is released.

Portuguese law does not place a requirement on its ex-officers to keep quiet about cases they were personally, and directly, involved in.

It should.

Portuguese law does not place a requirement on its ex-officers to keep quiet about cases they were personally, and directly, involved in.

It should.

Should it? why not write and tell them, via the EU, or you could just phone the Embassy. Tell em how it is.

On the other hand why should they? what effect has this had on your life?

It has not been proved by anyone that the book Sr Amaral wrote had an adverse affect(or indeed any, on the search for Madeliene, to accuse him of that is a disgrace- shunting the blame on him was a very low kick in my opinion. It has been a deflector BY THE PARENTS for many years.

In the meantime.... Poor Little Maddie.

The court ruling made it clear that the book did not disclose any secrets of the investigation and all the information in the book had already been in the public domain before it had been written. What don't you understand about this?
