Yes, Faithlilly, this is one strange point more. Why is Mr McCann entering through the main door ? Why don't we see the draught slamming the bedroom door, a detail that intrigued the AG (and me) ?
If you think about it you start wondering if the main objective wasn't just to scatter suspicions by introducing various peeping Toms, crystallize Ms Tanner's sighting through the Smiths' one and impose Mr McCann's chat side of the street.

And would you undermine the credibility of your own witness if it wasn't very, very important that you were seen to be correct in your recall ?

I don't understand how in the first interviews Gerry & Kate said Jane saw the man at 50 metres and that subsequently became 5 metres in later statements.

There is a big difference between 50 metres and 5 metres.
Kate and Gerry were not there.  Jane was.
They are clearly wrong as the total distance from the Tapas reception to JT corner is only about 47 metres.  There is a mighty confusion of some sort there.  Maybe the wrong answer was attributed to another question?

As i said before, Kate and Gerry were not tbere.  Jane was.

Some people are not good with judging distances.  Kate clearly is not.  The distance from the patio doors of 5A to where K&G sat in the outdoor restaurant is proven as only about 50 metres from GE images with measurements.  These are posted on this forum.  Yet Kate in her anxiety to err on the side of honesty and not to exagerate to their favour, has undoubtedly grossly erred on the other side.  In her book, somewhere, she has written that distance as over 100mtres (or yards)  IIRC.

I felt like shaking her when I read it.  She had taken on board the lies from the anti / [ censored word ]s / sceptics.

It appears quite clear from Jane's statements that all she saw was a Caucasian child older than a baby with bare feet wearing light coloured possibly pink pyjama bottoms with turn-ups.   Anything else is pure supposition and speculation.
Except John, the feet of a girl are generally smaller, and more dainty than those of a boy.  The legs also are plumper generally.

Jane later realised the "turn ups" were actually little frills

Mr McCann thinks he's very smart. He needed to publicly change the side of the street, the rest had no importance at all. Who might have laughed is Mr Wilkins if, by chance, he watched the manipulating pseudo reconstruction.
I'm sorry to realise every time more that all those tricks have unfortunately only one explanation.

I find it terrible the lack of critical minds that makes people sink into their lies with no other choice than forging ahead.

Can we have some evidence of your critical mind Anne.  To start with how did the Mccanns do it?  No lies please.

Oh and can you tell us what you meant by tricks in the previous post.  You never answered that.  Surprise surprise !

People refer to this return to the apartment as a reconstruction but that is incorrect.  The only reason Gerry entered via the front door was because OC gave him the front door key.  It was never intended to be a reenactment.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

It was "sold" like a re-enactment though (otherwise what point to bring Ms Tanner and Mr Oldfield ?). The flat has only one strictly speaking door, hence one key. It was then perfectly possible to enter as he said he did, through the patio door.

I totally agree with that. If it was meant purely to be a reconstruction we would not have seen Gerry in the apartment talking to Matthew as clearly that did not happen on the night of the 3rd May.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

That aside you must agree, don't you, that certain parts of the reconstruction were misleading at best ?
