Gerry's actual words are:

Part of the reason we ended up coming through the back was the noise coming through the front door. Because you don't want to disturb them. Stupid now, but!
He doesn't mention anything about a key.

yes weve passed that bit...why do you thnk he said its stupid now? Makes no sense to me

Reference?

Link?

Thank you for the information Icabod?

Going back to a point davel made about kids sleeping through live bands, my sister in law is a drummer and her daughter was perfectly capable of sleeping through the noise of a samba band. However, she'd be immediately reduced to tears by a cross voice. I guess it's more to do with what you're used to.

My niece slept through a fire alarm going off directly outside her bedroom, but the sound of my sister doing up the velcro on her trainers would wake her.

Both true stories.

KM must have had a reason for getting the kids tested. I assume that she must've thought that sedation was a possibility.

So I take it you accept Gerry said nothing about a key?

Gerry said nothing about the sound the key made in the lock  ...  I was not quoting verbatim and made a  mistake   ...  I'm sorry

To be honest I did not think it was necessary to check on what the  'precise'  noise   Gerry thought would wake the children  up if they used the front door  (  I  assumed  that the sound of the door being unlocked would be harder to avoid that the actual opening and closing of the door  ..  which could be managed quite quietly if done gently and carefully )

The 'real'  point I was hoping to get across was that using the front was decided against by the McCanns for fear of the noise waking the childeren  ...  indicating that they knew the children were quite light sleepers

That brings into question the fact that the twins were in a profoundly deep sleep on the night Madeleine was reported missing ...  and might suggest they had been sedated
